I did not mean to imply that it is a disaster, or cesspool, but it has declined considerably since the black population went from 40% to 60%.
Yes, I am sure that the upscale entertainment areas such as Overton Square and Cooper-Young are prospering, but I fear that the overall quality of life there will continue to decline as more of the white population retreats to suburban towns, but that is true for many cities, such as Atlanta, which thrives only because it is landlocked by suburban municipalities. Atlanta proper has less then 500,000 population.
By the way, is it true that the great MLG&W was broken up and sold off to companies outside of the state? That would be sad, as it was considered to be as good as any in the country.
