Meet the Newest Anti-Fracking Activist: Pope Francis
Foreign Policy Magazine ^ | November 13, 2013 | Katelyn Fossett

Pope Francis has already become a favorite of progressives with his fairly open-minded statements on homosexuality and birth control. But that adoration may go into overdrive, now that the Pope has adopted a new role as an environmental crusader, too. On Monday, the Pope was photographed with environmental activists holding T-shirts with anti-fracking slogans.

The photographs were taken after a meeting in the Vatican on Monday in which the Pope spoke with a group of Argentine environmental activists to discuss fracking and water contamination. He reportedly told the group he is preparing an encyclical -- a letter addressing a part of Catholic doctrine -- about nature, humans, and environmental pollution.

He finally jumped the shark. I could see it coming, but thought he’d hold off a bit longer.

What does he care about Fracking? How does it interfere with anything he does?

I believe he thought frackin was a child molesting homo priest thing.

That should be more relevant to what he’s supposed to be doing.

As a human being, he's entitled as any person to have an opinion.

As a Pope, his opinion on fracking is no more relevant or important than the opinion of a baker, a soldier, a fisherman, or a tailor.

The question is what does he know about fracking? (I thought priests weren't allowed to frack.)

” He finally jumped the shark. I could see it coming, but thought he’d hold off a bit longer.”

Why don’t you wait till it is actually published and read what is written?

Seriously....I, for the life of me, don’t comprehend why FReepers, who are so cynical of the MSM agenda, become totally gullible when it comes to the Catholic Church.

In fairness, the article is a joke. I’ll wait until I see the alleged encyclical.

I wonder how the Pope feels about lying to God? Perhaps an encyclical on that would help environmentalists in there presentations.

SHUT UP PUNK.

Maybe the pope needs to shut up when it comes to things that aren’t his business?

I liked the last one but this one seems to have a position on everything .... his comments about atheists, frackin, etc.

Yeah, I may have went over the line a little bit, punk.

I speak to how he allows the press to use and abuse his name and presence. One holding his power and grace should be very careful about how he says things and where is is photographed.

Considering that the author got it wrong about his stance on issues that are matters of Catholic doctrine why do you think her interpretation of the Pope’s view on fracking would be accurate?

Part of my post from yesterday:

“Pope Frank is a Leftist and will be softening the Vatican policy on abortion and homosexuality while pushing for open borders, redistribution of wealth (that doesn’t include Vatican wealth) and environmentalism. Pope Frank has had his honeymoon. Now he gets down to the serious business of implementing Marxist control”.
