New York Times columnist Paul Krugman writes that Obamacare is a success in California, and the Golden State experience is proof that the entire program would be great if they could just get that darn website to work.
Krugman's column doesn't discuss the quality or cost of the health plans offered on the California exchange at all. To make his case, Krugman cites precisely two pieces of data. First, he notes that "enrollment is surging. At this point, more than 10,000 applications are being completed per day, putting the state well on track to meet its overall targets for 2014 coverage." Second, he writes that California has a "balanced risk pool that is, it must sign up young, healthy Americans as well as their older, less healthy compatriots. And so far, so good: in October, 22.5 percent of California enrollees were between the ages of 18 and 34, slightly above that groups share of the population."
"What we have in California, then, is a proof of concept," writes Krugman. "Yes, Obamacare is workable in fact, done right, it works just fine."
But in reality, the numbers are not impressive. Obamacare has canceled the existing insurance policies of 1.1 million Californians (something Krugman doesn't mention), and only 80,000 Californians had signed up for Obamacare by the middle of November (another thing Krugman doesn't mention). Is it really much of a surprise that 10,000 people are signing up for Obamacare each day if a million lost their plans and have nowhere else to turn?

Isn’t Krugman the NYT humor editor?
Reading Krugman’s ridiculous lies take on a whole new dimension to those who’ve already been run over by the truth.
Uh, the Angry People stories here are running about 10 to 1.
The newspapers like to trot out some low life who’s happy they got a subsidy, but everyone else is hopping mad.
Even in the big Lefty towns. NOT happy.
I have two tests.
If California likes it, I don’t.
If John McCain is for it, I am not.
Life made simple.
Liberalism in a nutshell: cancel 1,000,000 policies, then brag when 800,000 people enroll in the only available alternative.
When Krugman’s keester hits the bricks after the Old Grey Dinosaur folds he will sing a different tune.
A marketing budget equivalent to $5000 per customer???!!!
Mercedes and Lexus, et al don't spend that much to get a new customer.
And they're targeting "subsidy-eligible" customers, to boot.
They really, really want to spend taxpayer money.
.... So they signed a few people up in CA ... big deal ... wait till those people get their first bill and find out they have to pay for it.
It ain't going nowhere but Dante's Inferno. And that's only if we're lucky.
Someone please show us where any similar system has been anything but a disaster.

I think most of the signups are for Medical so there will be no bill or copays!

Of course it’s a “success” in Cauliphonya. That joint is a basketcase full of freeloading deadbeats who want someone else to pay their way through life. The Home Of The Freebies.
Krugman will be taken care of by the rich an powerful left. He may go to his grave without ever knowing he was manipulated and used by the left to help destroy this nation and enslave its people. He is all the left really is, a hollow shell of deceit. Vain and proud.
Sad, but true.
