More than half of Germans want greater state control over websites, but about the same share are worried about surveillance of their own online activity, a survey on Tuesday revealed.
Many users are concerned about the threats they face online, above all from computer viruses (72 percent), surveillance of their browsing activity (57 percent) and the misuse of personal data (50 percent), the survey conducted by the Allensbach Institute for the German Institute for Trust and Security in the Internet showed.
But in a seeming contradiction, a considerable majority (61 percent) also believed there should be greater state controls on internet site providers, while 57 percent called for the German government to introduce stricter controls on website content.
Moves have already been made in Germany to increase state control over the webmost notably through the introduction of German-only email systems.

“I want the government to control others and know what they’re up to. But not me. I want my privacy.”

The internet is not negotiable. Sorry. Get off it if you don't like it.
The BND were/are one of its biggest partners.
>>As a great man observed, the Krauts are either at your feet or at your throat.<<
I thought is was that one Russian General said about Mooselimbs back to 18th century.
It was Sir Winston Churchill in a speech before a Joint Session of the US Congress, 19 May 1943:
By its sudden collapse, ... the proud German army has once again proved the truth of the saying, 'The Hun is always either at your throat or at your feet'.
No teleprompter in evidence. Of course, to be fair, Corporal Hitler didn't need teleprompters either.
Well, in light of Churchill’s speech it made perfect sense to keep Germany divided.
Margaret Thatcher did too. She new what Churchill did.
It would have made more sense to have followed General Patton’s instincts regarding the eastern divider of Germany. Of course, that would have deprived RR of some good lines down the line.

Ve bring to da world dis-order.
