A little known fact is that most nations have reduced their defense budgets so far that the U.S. is one of the few countries left that has invested in and maintains transport/logistical infrastructure. We had to transport French troops in Mali and have done quite a few missions for NATO troops in Afghanistan. Left alone, most nations could not support a military force outside of their borders with the exception of the U.S., Japan, China, India, Australia, Israel, and a few others.

Same with nation states... gearing up for the global world order.
