I’m not so sure about this. He’s been “missing” for what, 6 years? If he is still alive (and even if he’s not), I suspect the Iranians have known about his CIA connections for years, if not the entire time they’ve held him.

AP doesn't do much with out the Obama administration's approval, so there might be more to this that that. If Obama did OK the release of the story, I'm sure he'll be surprised to find out that he did. If Obama does find out that he authorized the story, I'm sure he'll do the right thing and ask AP to no longer report the story.
