OAKLAND, Calif. - The radio preacher who predicted "Judgment Day" would come in May 2011 has died in northern California.
A statement released late Monday by his Family Radio network says Harold Camping "passed on to glory" at 5:30 p.m. PT Sunday. He was 92. The statement revealed Camping had a fall at his home November 30, but he was in weak health due to a stroke since 2011.
Camping gained a national following through the Family Radio network of stations he helped found in 1959. He conducted daily on-air Bible studies and hosted a nightly "Open Forum" call-in show about Bible questions. The network includes a station in Emporia.
But Camping became an international laughingstock when he warned "Judgment Day" would occur May 21, 2011 with the second coming of Jesus Christ. He went on to say the world would end October 21, 2011.
Camping admitted to reporters he was "flabbergasted" when his prediction proved false. Donations to his ministry dropped noticeably after that, and Family Radio was forced to sell several of its most powerful FM stations to stay afloat financially.
The Family Radio statement notes Camping is survived by a wife of 71 years.

Charles Taze Russell didn’t get stoned, Jehovia’s Witnesses are based on his teachings, he also predicted the date for the end of the world.
Joe Smith, another false prophet also predicted the end of the world but wasn’t around on the “due date”, having been killed in a gun fight while trying to break out of jail. Yep, Joe was armed too.

Sincere people make egregious mistakes. I knew a pastor, poor church, no media ministry, who went off into the same error. His date was sometime in 1972. I knew the man personally. He lived like a pauper. There was nothing in it for him. It really was what he believed. It was clearly wrong, but there was no profit motive. I think a lot of people are just profoundly tempted in this area, because it is natural for Christians to desire Christ’s return. So much good will come from it. But we have been explicitly told the return date is top secret, knowledge held by God alone. He must have known what a strong temptation it would be.

Basically it says you’ll know the general time of Jesus coming in the clouds to take the saved ones away (the Rapture) but not the exact time. It’s sometimes worded that you’ll know the season, but not the day or hour.
Now, that’s the Rapture — BUT — those who are in the Tribulation time will know the exact day when Jesus returns to set up his Kingdom on earth. At the time that the Tribulation starts - it goes like clockwork, down to the day.
So before the Rapture, you don’t know the exact time. At the time of the 7-year Tribulation, the timing is outlined down to the day.
There are a lot of people who are ALL WRONG on prophecy in the Bible - but - they are saved. Being saved doesn’t ‘t make one knowledgeable or accurate about Bible Prophecy or even the other doctrines of the Bible.

I don’t have a lot of patience with doomsday peddlers and don’t believe it’s Biblical. Now Mr. Camping will at last have to answer for his activities on earth, as a man of God(?)
