A Texas judge claims he wasn’t choking his girlfriend — he was saving her life.

Dallas County Judge Carlos Raul Cortez was arrested Saturday morning after his 26-year-old girlfriend told police he strangled her, dragged her by the hair to his apartment balcony and choked her some more against the railing.

“The allegations made by the complainant are false,” Cortez’s attorney Andrew Korn said in a statement to media outlets. “If necessary, it will be shown in the proper forum that Judge Cortez actually saved her life.”

The girlfriend described a harrowing scene, according to police reports obtained by the Dallas Morning News.

Dallas district judge arrested on assault charge, police report says

Cortez, a Democrat, was first elected in 2006. He is up for re-election next year. He filed a defamation suit against Dallas lawyer Randy Johnston in 2010 and has since spent more than $100,000 of campaign funds trying to keep some details of the suit sealed. The Dallas Morning News has previously reported that some of the documents seem to pertain to the use of drugs and prostitutes. Cortez denies them, the News reported.

Would sound believable in some circles in Dallas, Houston or Austin.

Saving her life like Obamacare is saving the US economy.

Let’s see: he’s 44, she’s 24, and a teenager “lives with” them. I’m stopping right there.

She was getting entirely too much blood to her brain.
A few more minutes and her head might have exploded.

Cortez choked her on the couch, dragged her by the hair to his balcony and forced her up against the railing. He strangled her for 15 seconds as she tipped precariously over the edge, she told police.

Nice pose..With the photo background set etc...This guy really likes himself...

""Dallas County Judge Carlos Raul Cortez was arrested early Saturday morning after he allegedly choked his girlfriend, dragged her by the hair to the balcony of his apartment and strangled her against the edge.""

I like it. Watch the judge say she tried to commit suicide, started to jump off the balcony and he simply grabbed her by the neck as she dangled over the side, saving her. I give this an 8 on the honking hoot scale.

Why the surprise? A judge is just a political hack with a black muumuu fetish.

Don’t be too quick to judge the judge! (Is he going to preside over his own trial?)
