What does BdN think is going to happen to these horses if they can’t earn their keep? They’ll soon be, well, horsemeat..

I have seen working horses in horrible condition

If they are well cared for and treated appropriately that is one thing

But if not, shut them down

Is there a “greener” form of transportation than a horse and carriage?

Wihelm..aka di blahsio’s whole manner is one of open tyranny isnt it,

ITS OVER.? such a brash contemptuous young punk

Electric CAR TOURS are his replacement? thats sure to be a major tourist draw!

I dont think I remember any other New York Mayor ever expressing any CONCERN over this non issue. Evidently Wilhelm feels the NEED to be at the very advance guard of locally based Neo Stalinism!

Probably 110% of these Irish horse drivers and a few of their dead relatives/friends, voted for Obozo and their current communist/lefty mayor.

I have zero sympathy for any NY City leftie, who voted for Obozo and their current communist/lefty mayor.

News for de Blasio: horses like people, and people like horses.

No doubt getting rid of all the dogs and cats in the city will be next.

Man.. the looney mayor fund raising is starting briskly.

Next. Ban pets in NYC. Pollution not good for kitty cats, displaces rats.

The NYPD needs to get rid of their mounted patrols too then. They can ride around in electric cars.

The horses aren't a problem unless you feed them Beefarino.

Expect a mass exodus out of NYC by anyone with a brain. NYC, the next Detroit.

Irish people live in Ireland, and I’ve never heard a brogue on a carriage driver.

Bring the horses to other cities where they will be cherished and treated well. Screw NY city and the liberal idiots that infest them. Memphis, San Antonio, Charleston, St. Louis, and New Orleans all have carriage rides and the horses and mules are treated humanely and cared for. I make it a point to ride a carriage in the cities that have them because a)the drivers usually know which places are the best for the tourists to go and since horsemen have a bond they are mostly honest and b)its a great way to see downtown slowly and the nuances of the city and c)its great for the economy. Even Disney knows that carriage rides are good for business. One of the best days I had was spending a day with the carriage horses in Orlando/Disneyworld where they were stabled and cared.

"We are going to quickly and aggressively move to make horse carriages no longer a part of the landscape in New York City... They are not humane. ... It's over."

Over? Nothing is over until we say it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?!?

Will New York’s new mayor be willing to publicly accompany the horses to the glue factory and the out-of-work drivers to the unemployment office so he can show the world how compassionate he is?

And why weren’t the horses allowed to voice their opinion on this issue? I’m sure they would have voted ‘’neigh.’’

I had no idea that this was an “Irish” trade. I always thought it was an eccentric trade. Irish immigrants to New York are some of the worst leftist, America-haters I have ever met. Why they are here is beyond me. In fact, read the first comment after this article. It will probably fill up with more hatred.

Maybe I need to rethink my support of the drivers...

The hubris of the left has no bounds.

Who are they to know what is going on in the equine mind? Do these horses endure constant pain? Would these horses chose a sedentary life, standing in a sub zero field in New Hampshire for example over what’s been assigned to them in Central Park?

Sounds like the global warming game.

If it feels good to the liberal, it must be good.

On the other hand, the mayor was duly elected; because the pervert became marginalized.

A lot of these horses are going to be put down. The owners won’t be able to pay for upkeep with no money coming in. I sometimes wonder if the NYC vote was rigged. Was Weiner paid to run to take all the heat off DeBlasio?
