Mayor de Blasio and Gov. Cuomo were on a collision course Monday over taxes with de Blasio declaring that he wont abandon his plan to tax the rich even if the state funds the universal pre-kindergarten classes that hes been pushing.
We are not going to water down our goal, de Blasio proclaimed, reiterating his intention to ask Albany to hike city income taxes on those earning $500,000 or more no matter what happens on the pre-K front.

IT IS NOT ABOUT UNIVERSAL PRE-K, it's about PUNISHING the successful.
In other words, his so called concern for children's education is a SHAM all along.
Surprise
TEN YEARS AFTER
“I’d Love To Change The World”
Everywhere is freaks and hairies
Dykes and fairies, tell me where is sanity
Tax the rich, feed the poor
‘Til there are no rich no more
I’d love to change the world
But I don’t know what to do
So I’ll leave it up to you
Population keeps on breeding
Nation bleeding, still more feeding economy
Life is funny, skies are sunny
Bees make honey, who needs money, No none for me
I’d love to change the world
But I don’t know what to do
So I’ll leave it up to you
Oh yeah!
World pollution, there’s no solution
Institution, electrocution
Just black and white, rich or poor
Senators stop the war
I’d love to change the world
But I don’t know what to do
So I’ll leave it up to you
The tax increase itself is rather small, a few tenths of a percent. But, high earners in NYC are taxed so much already that they are very wary of any increases, and validating this will encourage DeBlasio to keep increasing the levies until every wealthy person and wealth-generating business leaves.
A few tenths of a percent here, a few tenths of a percent there, and pretty soon we’re talking about real money.
Why would anyone choose to live in that sewage pit?
So.. where will ‘the rich’ exit to?
The Universal Pre K is all about creating more jobs for union fee paying members aka teachers.
“So.. where will the rich exit to?”
...and will there be an “exit tax”?
I'm sure Rush Limbaugh is feeling "punished" in "Sunny South Florida" right now!
De Blasio has a few rich zip codes on an island in a relatively poor city in a relatively poor state.(Both New Jersey and Connecticut have higher per capita and household incomes than New York.) De Blasio just doesn't understand New York City's demographics or economics. (Neither do the voters that elected him.)
Do it, commie, do it!
You do realize that you didn’t do what most communist political enemies do first?
(build a fence to prevent escape)
Please DO NOT include Texas in your escape plans
Many if not most of the seriously rich have homes outside of New York City (former Mayor Bloomberg has about half a dozen, IIRC). The "merely" rich commute to the city from New Jersey and Connecticut. In effect, "the rich" already have exited. If de Blasio makes things too difficult for employers, the jobs themselves will move out of the city and to more friendly places. This experiment n socialism is going to be a lot of fun to watch -- so long as you don't actually live in New York.
I love seeing two leftist dogs attack each other.
The city and the state of New York deserve their politicians like no other city/state in the nation.
Detroit here come New York.
New Jersey will be happy to accept Wall Street business and the view is better from the West side of the river, at least for awhile.
The Wall Street Businesses were being very patriotic and loyal when they moved back to New York City from New Jersey after September 11, 2001 terrorist attack. De Blasio may do what the Muslims could not do ... close down NYC. Another Italian joke running a government
Not one dime will make it to the kids.
Pray America is Waking
RE: Another Italian joke running a government
Hey, two great mayors ( La Guardia and Giuliani ) were Eyetalians...
Thank You to the very smart people who wrote Pennsylvania’s State Constitution which bans progressive tax rates.
My thoughts, exactly. When the so-called “RICH”, many of whom live OUTSIDE of the city, leave along with the JOBS they create, New York will go down the drain the rest of the way.
With the advent of the internet, it is no longer necessary for all the financial businesses to be located close at hand. The “net” is faster than taking an elevator down three floors.
Those who pay attention to the future in New York will get a close at hand lesson in the wonders of Socialism.
Good luck to them. No best wishes, though.
All money rightfully belongs to the government.
