Andrew Cuomo: Pro-Life People “Have No Place in the State of New York”
Life News ^ | January 17, 2014 | Steven Ertelt

Posted on 01/17/2014 7:36:38 PM PST by NYer

Governor Andrew Cuomo of New York has already proven himself to be one of the most pro-abortion politicians in the country. He’s repeatedly pushed a bill that would make the state that has some of the highest abortion rates in the nation further down the road of unlimited abortions.

Now, Cuomo has said that pro-life people have no business living in the state. If the governor has any interest in pursuing national office with a potential Democratic presidential campaign, he’s definitely lost the majority of the country that appreciates the right to life of unborn babies.

But maybe Cuomo is doing the rest of the nation a favor. If he alienates enough pro-lifers, who move elsewhere, the state will continue to see its influence wane — as it further loses more Congressional seats to southern and western states as conservative New Yorkers look for more welcoming places to live.

As reported today:

Governor Cuomo is issuing a warning to what he refers to as the more conservative arm of the Republican party – you’re not welcome in the state of New York.

Moderate Republicans, or those most willing to capitulate to Cuomo’s own extreme agenda, still have the welcome mat rolled out.

Here’s Cuomo during a Friday morning conversation on the Capitol Pressroom (H/t Times Union):

You have a schism within the Republican Party. … They’re searching to define their soul, that’s what’s going on. Is the Republican party in this state a moderate party or is it an extreme conservative party? That’s what they’re trying to figure out. It’s a mirror of what’s going on in Washington. The gridlock in Washington is less about Democrats and Republicans. It’s more about extreme Republicans versus moderate Republicans.

… You’re seeing that play out in New York. … The Republican Party candidates are running against the SAFE Act — it was voted for by moderate Republicans who run the Senate! Their problem is not me and the Democrats; their problem is themselves. Who are they? Are they these extreme conservatives who are right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay? Is that who they are? Because if that’s who they are and they’re the extreme conservatives, they have no place in the state of New York, because that’s not who New Yorkers are.

If they’re moderate Republicans like in the Senate right now, who control the Senate — moderate Republicans have a place in their state. George Pataki was governor of this state as a moderate Republican; but not what you’re hearing from them on the far right.”

Cuomo has made a career of referring to anyone that opposes his agenda as “extreme” while simultaneously referring to that agenda as “common sense.”

...I had to see the exact quote:

Upstate is red, and the City denizens I know are either mild mannered libs/dems, or mild mannered libs who vote republican for economic sense.

They are pro gay lifestyle acceptance, imposing it on their kids. They wouldn’t dream of opposing abortion, forget opposing birth control. Decent people bore them, so they don’t get to know nor understand them.

There’s not a conservative in sight, save the 80 to 90 year olds.

Is that what upstate is like?

BTW, there are TV ads begging people here to come and live in NY, AND saying there are no taxes for new residence.

They just fell behind Fla as the most populous state. WOW, and Cuomo’s telling people to stay away. Does he know these come to NY ads run in Texas?

No taxes? Has to be a swindle. The property taxes on the house in which I grew up are about $30 grand a year.

“Extreme” is constantly being redefined.
Satan is alive and well.
But his time is short.
So he is working hard
to bring death.

NYC and its environs have a hard time keeping up with technology.

THe buildings are very old (they are good, and they are aesthetic) and cannot keep up with even air conditioning, let alone wifi, cell phone signals, satellite, for the average resident.

“his prejudice and fear is causing his hatred”

Sometimes evil is the cause of hatred.

Where you find wholesale baby-killing, can Satan be far away?

“But those who DO trust in the Lord and call upon Him will be saved.”

Their souls will be saved. I don’t think that guarantee extends to their country. The dims will pull the United States down with them.

“Is it right to kill one year olds? Or babies born alive in an Abortion mill? Its a hard question on many levels that brings out passion.”

I’m sorry, but I don’t believe the question is difficult on any level.

Killing babies is wrong. Period.

I reside in the Capital Region where the hub (Albany) is blue but the suburbs were predominantly red. That is beginning to change as more companies relocate to this region. Not sure where you reside in the state. Here is the presidential election map.

BTW, there are TV ads begging people here to come and live in NY, AND saying there are no taxes for new residence.

I believe the ads are for business and the no taxes apply for only 10 years.

Cuomo has the job because of his greatest skill: being born to a successful father.

Look for the state of New York to have bad luck. The leaders in New York defy goodness. You can’t defy goodness and prosper.

More to the point, people who are pro life are not welcome. Think about that for a minute... If you are for life, you are not welcome.

That is both incredible and damning.

The nature of the current resident at 1600 Penn. Ave. proves that's not a problem.

The world hasn’t seen a country as Christianized as this, however.

God’s own bragging rights are at stake here. Is He going to let the devil crow about how he managed to bring down the greatest display of gospel on earth yet?

Call me crazy but I’m banking that the answer is NO! And it is for God’s own sake. Not because of our sorry asses (pun intended). But because Christ gave His hide (and His blood and the rest of Himself) on the cross.

And the bible pattern is that way too. Israel was chastised but never has been sent extinct.

I feel a very strong current of redemption building under the surface of this self inflicted agony. God has something at stake here that was never at stake during the Old Testament.

Andrew Cuomo needs a great deal of our prayer...for his repentance and deep conversion.

I’m just pointing out factors that have historically hobbled Christianity’s practice in America. It seems those are two big fleshly bandwagons that manage to miss an important part of the truth bigtime. And their proponents sadly often go at one another’s throat rather than providing opportunity to evaluate both in the light of scripture.

Roman Catholics, in practice, are heavy Arminian, incidentally.

I have found an exceedingly simple personal truth with God. Give God credit for being able to do all He promises to do, ask based on the promises, and God will then come through brilliantly on the promises!

Every day I become more optimistic about God’s redemptive work. And it is not a dice-throw that distributes this optimism. Every person can believe it if he or she is willing to put down his or her self-held defenses. That often takes coming to the end of oneself. I used to dread that as a quintessential shame. But now I welcome coming to the end of myself because then the Lion of Judah starts to roar for me big time.

So do I HiTech. However, I also believe that the “agony” will worsen before that in order to fully awaken us. The great emphasis on evangelization (beginning with those IN the Church) from Church leaders and active members right now also confirms this to me.
