Ah... very clever... the racebaiters now have a cute little word to dismiss the opinion of anyone white.
Obama proved a black man was CAPABLE of winning the White House (twice in fact), however he has not proven he himself is capable of DOING the job. THIS is why he is criticized. His character is horrible (everyone now admits that Obama lied to push Obamacare, that Joe Wilson was correct in saying YOU LIE to Mr. Obama during the State of the Union speech when Mr. Obama LIED about his critics).
Obama still says that his low approval numbers are because of his skin color. THAT is playing the race card and the DUmmies keep spinning disproven memes.
Might I add a
“bless their little hearts” to that comment?
Where does the jerk who wrote this piece fall on Obama's false claim of ties to the Selma march and the changes that came afterwards?
Obama credits Selma march for his existence (2008)
"What happened in Selma, Alabama and Birmingham also stirred the conscience of the nation...This young man named Barack Obama...came over to this country. He met this woman...(who) had a good idea there was some craziness going on because they looked at each other and they decided...it might...be possible for us to get together and have a child. There was something stirring across the country because of what happened in Selma, Alabama... So they got together and Barack Obama Jr. was born. So don't tell me I don't have a claim on Selma, Alabama. Don't tell me I'm not coming home to Selma, Alabama. I'm here because somebody marched."http://www.barackobama.com/2007/03/04/selma_voting_rights_march_comm.php
Neither was this author.
How does calling Obama out on playing the race card misrepresent MLK? The author really pulled that one out of his ass.
Peter Weber is a senior editor at TheWeek.com, and has handled the editorial night shift since the website launched in 2008. A graduate of Northwestern University, Peter has worked at Facts on File and The New York Times Magazine. He speaks Spanish and Italian and plays bass and rhythm cello in an Austin rock band, The Heavenly Rays. Follow him on Twitter.
That's what's missing from today's rock acts, rhythm cello.
I have heard of "acting white" which entails good manners, good grades, and essentially civil behavior. Maybe "whitesplain" means to explain something truthfully, as opposed to a politically correct explanation.
8/16ths White, 7/16ths Arab, 1/16 Black.
.... I saw it expressed in 8ths... do you have a reference to the 16ths calculation? tia
ymmv
Since that time, probably 50,000 white people have been murdered by blacks. So King's dream has not been fulfilled, but it's not because of nasty, white racists. Today we have a black Klan that goes around terrorizing the country. What have you to say about that Mr. Weber?
Maybe where you lived. Not where I was.
My dad, a Scottish immigrant who grew up in So Cal where businesses and entities that discriminated against blacks were like as not (rightly!) boycotted and criticized, was ONE PISSED OFF DUDE in the U.S. Navy during WWII, when policy was to make stewards out of all black sailors, regardless of their qualifications. Dad was FURIOUS that a black guy on his ship, who had a degree in engineering, for crying out loud, was PREVENTED from being the officer he should have been, and whose skills and leadership could have saved American lives in battle.
My dad always maintained that a LOT of American veterans saw this horrifically stupid, mindless discrimination in WWII, saw how it actually endangered their lives and ability to win the war, and that it was a MAJOR force in the anti-segregation movement supported by REPUBLICANS and opposed by Democrats that followed during the decades after the war.
it is true that MLK did inherently put the burden on white people and not blacks, in the inuendos. There was a certain amount of black moralizing whites pride indeed.
That being said, he probably was too reconciliatorial in the end and thus was executed because he was starting to go off the script.
They are soooo gooood!
Turns out Stanley Ann Dunham had an ancestor who was mixed-race black/white. The article linked to thread had a photo of the Dunham ancestor.
Then it should not be a national holiday.
I see two - and a few in between.
Really? Seriously? You are actually go to go with this? Are you playing the stupid card? Obama plays the race only slightly less then those 2 world class race card players Sharpton and Jackson.
