Obamacare deadbeats: Some don't pay up (Husseincare cancellations? Pelosi knew)
CNN ^ | 1/30/14 | Tami Luhby

Just cause they've signed up for Obamacare doesn't mean they're covered.

Around one in five people who picked health insurance policies on the state and federal exchanges last year haven't paid their first month's premiums, according to insurers polled by CNNMoney. These folks will likely see their policy selection canceled and they'll be left uninsured.

Some 2.1 million people signed up for a plan in time for their coverage to start January 1, according to the Obama administration. But with the payment deadlines stretching until January 31 at the latest, anywhere between 12% and 30% of those folks still haven't paid up, insurers say.

Somewhere between an eighth and a third...

The lack of precision alone should be a warning that things aren’t right.

If they are saying it’s 12%-30% the truthful percentage is probably 50%+.

It’s worse than what CNN reports.

1 in 5 will receive cancellation notices because there have been too many attempts to collect on the payment.

There are more than 20% who haven’t made payments...but they just haven’t been contacted enough times to require a cancellation.

Just wait until some minority person of low income who didn’t pay, gets cancelled and ends up in a hospital for a serious illness. The insurance company will be made the villain, of course.

Those numbers are surprisingly optimistic.

Here in Washington state, almost 49% of the people who enrolled in a qualified plan have not paid.

That report came out yesterday and covers October 01 to January 23.
