It goes without saying that had such a massive government screw-up occurred during the Bush administration, the NYT would not be trying to downplay things by using words such as "glitches" in their headlines, nor would they be focusing on what the opposition party was doing to gain political advantage. Rather, they would be pounding away at the President with article after article, headline after headline, innuendo after innuendo, breathless with outrage and righteous indignation, just like they did with the 'glitches' at the Abu Ghraib prison.
Oh, but I must be mistaken - the NYT would never permit their editorial page biases to bleed through into their news coverage, would they?
