I don't know anything about the dead guy but his suicide doesn't sound right. Why would he shoot himself several times in the torso if he was trying to kill himself? That sounds like it would cause more pain then death. It would be interesting to see who he is connected to.

Actually, the tip of nail guns must be pressed into something or modified with another nail or wedge of wood, which holds the tip in the right position to allow for rapid fire. There is no way this was self-inflicted, unless this guy could handle pain and love it at the same time.

Well - if you have an agency and therefore employees that their JOB is to make things safe. . .then every time there is an accident - they will try and write a rule to stop that from happening again. Sounds good and logical until you realize that eventually everything will be eliminated. For anytime you perform any work or task - something will eventually happen. Life is a risk itself and risk can never be eliminated if your intention is to accomplish something.

Assuming it was a first-fix gun (not sure a second fix would pierce a skull) it would inflict very intense pain.You'd have to be plenty whacked out to fire multiple shots into yourself.As others have said maybe it was bump firing,but the torso and the head!? That'd have to be some heavy duty schtuff,or he had some assistance.

Exactly. That’s what people who are regulators at heart are incapable of grasping. You have to look at cost/benefit ratio. Not everything that has a finite benefit should be done. Some of those benefits are infinitesimal, or the costs/drawbacks of the policy itself or compliance are great enough for it not to be worth it.
