**SNIP**

The Salt Lake Games were held less than five months after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

Bush prefaced his declaration with a few non-scripted patriotic words: "On behalf of a proud, determined and grateful nation, I declare open the games of Salt Lake City, celebrating the Winter Games."

Said Bach: "All the other heads of state respected the charter and I'm absolutely sure the charter will be respected tonight."

Putin stayed true to the text, saying in Russian: "I declare open the 22nd Olympic Winter Games in Sochi."

Just an interestional version of blame Bush. That google stunt yesterday must have stung the IOC. This is a little push back I think.

Imagine how Obama would handle this:

"Folks, I was born on an island, far from here. I later moved to a different island. I also won a Nobel Prize. I've had a lot of achievements. If you ask me, I'm pretty impressive. And I now declare these games to be open.

Actually, this time I side with the IOC; heads of state are permitted to say ONLY, that they declare the games open.

Anything else at all, starts their mouths rolling with politics, until we’ll end up with them giving long speeches about their glorious nation, etc.

The IOC has nothing to say after 1936.

Bach is an @-hole, and GWB was wrong to change, and then mangle, the simple, declarative sentence he was supposed to speak. Every head of state is expected to follow the protocol.

"On behalf of a proud, determined and grateful nation, I declare open the games of Salt Lake City, celebrating the Winter Games."

This must have been uttered by a megalomaniacal German or muslim.
For the life of me I can't imagine how that statement can possibly violate the 'Olympic Spirit.'
I'll bite my tongue and refrain from mentioning the overt criminal activities that take place at every Olympics. And it doesn't involve the language police.

So in their rules, a country that fights and lobbies for the right to hold the Olympics , wins it but can’t put in a plug for their country. LOL just shows how stupid these A holes are. Almost as stupid and meaningless as the “Peace Prize”.

Glad you corrected the headline; the idiots at Fox Sports are referring to a “fromer” president.

Since when have supra-government powers been granted to non-elected self-appointed delusional sub-bureaucrats?
Little people from irrelevant countries whose main goals is to suck their parasitic hosts dry, and to aim selectively their authority exclusively against their parasitic hosts.

International organizations are sure moderate aren’t they.

If hating the U. S. makes one moderate, these folks have the right idea for sure.
