“Shirley Temple dead 2014” : Actress killed by internet death hoax

Shirley Temple is the latest celeb to fall victim to a death hoax
Shirley Temple »

News of actress Shirley Temple’s death spread quickly earlier this week causing concern among fans across the world. However the February 2014 report has now been confirmed as a complete hoax and just the latest in a string of fake celebrity death reports. Thankfully, the actress best known for her roles in Fort Apache, The Little Princess or Heidi is alive and well.

UPDATE 11/02/2014 : This story seems to be false. (read more)

Shirley Temple death hoax spreads on Facebook

Rumors of the actress’s alleged demise gained traction on Sunday after a ‘R.I.P. Shirley Temple’ Facebook page attracted nearly one million of ‘likes’. Those who read the ‘About’ page were given a believable account of the American actress’s passing:

“At about 11 a.m. ET on Sunday (February 09, 2014), our beloved actress Shirley Temple passed away. Shirley Temple was born on April 23, 1928 in Santa Monica. She will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page.”

Hundreds of fans immediately started writing their messages of condolence on the Facebook page, expressing their sadness that the talented 85-year-old actress was dead. And as usual, Twittersphere was frenzied over the death hoax.

Where as some trusting fans believed the post, others were immediately skeptical of the report, perhaps learning their lesson from the huge amount of fake death reports emerging about celebrities over recent months. Some pointed out that the news had not been carried on any major American network, indicating that it was a fake report, as the death of an actress of Shirley Temple’s stature would be major news across networks.

A recent poll conducted for the Celebrity Post shows that a large majority (72%) of respondents think those Shirley Temple death rumors are not funny anymore.

Shirley Temple Death Hoax Dismissed Since Actress Is ‘Alive And Well’

On Monday (February 10) the actress’ reps officially confirmed that Shirley Temple is not dead. “She joins the long list of celebrities who have been victimized by this hoax. She’s still alive and well, stop believing what you see on the Internet,” they said.

Some fans have expressed anger at the fake report saying it was reckless, distressing and hurtful to fans of the much loved actress. Others say this shows her extreme popularity across the globe.

Republican, yes. However, she was pro-abortion and was one of the most prominent members of “Republicans for Choice”, though she may have had a change of heart in recent years because references of her involvement with “R for C” have disappeared from the web.

Not true then??? I still like her movies. Thought it was sad she couldn’t break into stardom as a teen and adult actress. At least she didn’t go the Miley Cyrus route.

I’m guessing it STILL is not true. HOWEVER - I hope that someone reads her all of the fond memories and great stories that people will post. I always thought it was such a waste to have people get together and do that only after the person is dead!

Like in that “Klondike” TV series where they put the dieing preacher in a coffin and paraded him around town with the band playing and the people cheering while he could still enjoy it.

RIP “Curly Top”. Your movies were always so entertaining. Boy do I miss the days of turning on the t.v. and watching one of your movies. How far society has fallen. Our beloved Shirley Temple has been replaced by Honey Boo Boo.
