Rest in peace Shirley ...

She did some amazing dance routines with Bill 'Bojangles' Robinson.

RIP.

She grew up to be beautiful & yet mostly shunned Hollywood as a adult. Wise choice at an early age, IMO.

Shirley Temple is missed.

Not only talented and beautiful, but quite intelligent. Unlike some of Obama's ambassadorial nominees.

Shirley Temple got her first ambassador appointment after Secretary of State Henry Kissinger heard her discussing Namibia at a party and, in her words, was "surprised that I even knew the word."

This looks to be the same internet posting that said Philip Seymour Hoffman wasn't dead. Almost word for word.

And we know how that turned out. So I think the "HOAX" is saying she is NOT dead...

I agree! She was stunning in “The Best Years of our Lives”, one of my favorites. Same with “The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer”...such a fun movie with another lovely lady, Myrna Loy. Shirley was one of my favorites throughout her life. She was wonderful as a child actress, as a young adult actress and as a representative of this country. She has grace and charm and was just a lovely person.

I knew a couple both of whose lives were affected by Shirley Temple.

The husband was in the same Army unit as Shirley Temple’s rather dissolute husband John Agar. A crude man and a drunk, Agar and Temple did not stay married very long. But in any event, the unit was scheduled to be shipped out to occupied Japan as military police, for still dangerous duty, but because “he was Shirley Temple’s husband”, another unit was sent in its place.

As far as the wife was concerned, she could not abide watching any of Shirley Temple’s movies, as being about the same age, adults made it a point to compare her against Temple and criticizing her for not being as saccharine and talented.

Most entertainers who make it big early have no class (Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, etc.) Shirley Temple had class.

I read this little tidbit this morning.

“From 1935 through 1938, the curly-haired moppet billed as Shirley Temple was the top box-office draw in the nation. She saved what became 20th Century Fox studios from bankruptcy and made more than 40 movies before she turned 12”

So I guess it could be argued that without Shirley Temple, there would be no Fox News.

So let's add that to the long list of Mrs Black's accomplishments to really piss off the pResident and the left.

RIP Ambassador.

It’s a great shame she lost that special election primary to ultra-liberal and anti-semitic RINO Pete McCloskey (who since 2007 is officially a rat).

No doubt, Fox was saved twice from bankruptcy. Shirley Temple did it the first time, and “The Sound of Music” the second.

Had she won the primary and the election, it’s possible the CA GOP would’ve run her for Senator before long (so it would’ve been Senator Temple Black before the two rabid moonbats that have misrepresented the state for the past 22 years).

I can see Robert Osborne running a Shirley Temple marathon. Time to get the DVR ready.

I’m sorry to say that it is true. I found online that it was a hoax and I was so glad, but I was too fast. They have changed the website. It fooled all of her facebook fans as well. Such a sad day.

She obtained supr stardom that no other child star has experienced, yet she stayed sober, stayed out of the tabloids, did not have multiple marriages and was a devoted mother. Tims certainly have changed.

You can put it down to her mother from what I have heard.

She made herself a regular pain to the studios to keep Shirley safe.

I may have been a coincidence, or maybe a ripple in “the force” when she died. Yesterday, around 5-6pm CST, for no reason at all, I started thinking about her singing “polly, wolly, doodle all day” and thinking about how, as a child, I like that Civil Wart film she did.

It just came out of the blue, and I chuckled because it was so random.

I don’t have cable or over the air TV going, and I wasn’t listening to the radio.

Stange.
