After preaching shared sacrifice to assuage the California water shortage, Obama has played some of the country's thirstiest golf courses.
Obama traveled to California Friday to highlight the states drought emergency at two events near Fresno, calling for shared sacrifice to help manage the states worst water-shortage in decades. He then spent the rest of the weekend enjoying the hospitality of some of the states top water hogs: desert golf courses.
... played at two of the most exclusive courses in the Palm Springs area. On Saturday, Obama played at the Sunnylands estate, built by the late billionaire Walter Annenberg... The following day he golfed at billionaire Oracle founder Larry Ellisons 19-hole Porcupine Creek. On Presidents Day, Obama hit the links at Sunnylands once again.
The 124 golf courses in the Coachella Valley consume roughly 17 percent of all water there, and one quarter of the water pumped out of the regions at-risk groundwater aquifer, according to the Coachella Valley Water District... Each of the 124 Coachella Valley courses, on average, uses nearly 1 million gallons a day due to the hot and dry climate, 3-4 times more water per day than the average American golf course.
It cant just be a matter of theres going to be less and less water so Im going to grab more and more of a shrinking share of water, Obama said Friday in Los Banos. Instead what we have to do is all come together and figure out how we all are going to make sure that agricultural needs, urban needs, industrial needs, environmental and conservation concerns are all addressed.

My liberal colleague called up to exclaim and me oh my about the “horrific” California drought and I just had to point out to her that it was in fact a desert. That shut her up.
"What's wrong with these stupid Californians? WHAT drought? Can't they see how green the golf course is? Idiots!"
Meanwhile the federal government kills thousands of acres of farmland to save a fish that no one cares about and has managed to stay alive even when the farmers were taking water from the rivers.
FUBO!
Have your fun Jackweed.
like i mentioned before, does Obama know that “It Never Rains In California”? but girl don’t they warned ya? was that the lyric?
Palm Springs has an awful lot of water under the ground. No shortage there.
If I were a golfer and a millionaire (Obama is both) this is where I would retire. Michelle would hate having all those white Republicans around though.
Californians will do anything for the “King”.
I just heard on Fox and Friends that a popular LA restaurant is charging a 3% fee on all food service to help pay for the added expense of Obamacare. They voted for this clown, now it is time to put up and shut up because it is just the beginning.
