Gee, this can get complicated. If they were majority Armenian, they would only be involved in hopes of fighting Turks. Or they might be Yazidi or Sunni Kurds. But that would make no sense for them to be fighting on behalf of Shiites.

After watching the video clip, I’m not sure how ‘trained’ these guys are, unless one counts the intensive eight-week course in saying ‘f**k’ and ‘homies’ as many times as possible in every sentence.

Assad also protects Christians and other minorities in Syria.

Of course they're not trained, they're cold blooded killers who fortunately left LA for Syria so they can up their adrenalin high by shooting and killing anyone within their gun sights..........
There's no politics involved here and there's no loyalty to anyone. To them, and the rest of their kind, it's the ultimate hunting expedition without any consequences other than hopefully they get killed off before they kill someone else.

This is what happens when you replace the little ole lady form Pasadena with “crazy loco from Pasadena”.
There was the tough guy LA gang member who took a couple of homies with him to do a drive by. Unfortunately, when they drove up to the house of the intended victim and began shooting, their beater car stalled out in front, and they were deep in rival gang territory. Their injuries were not fatal, but they were the laughingstock of the hood.
We can only hope that those who are going over to fight are just as brilliant.
