Putin is a wounded animal, more dangerous than ever before. Now is definitely not the time to be soft. Having Obama as President keeps getting worse by the day, now by the hour.

I’d call him hungry. And having developed an appetite for his neighbors, that makes him more dangerous than ever.

By your logic all of the Ukraine could just as well go back to Russia too. You mention 1954 as if it were only yesterday but it really means that for two and a half generations the Crimea has been Ukrainian.

By his logic all of the FSU belongs to Russia. And CA & TX belong to Mexico. Then there is St. Augustine, FL. That was Spanish back in the 16th century. That will need to go back them obviously.

Isolationism doesn’t end well in the 21st century. Some bad actor will always fill the void the US leaves.

Wounded because of Ukraine. Previously he had his Mafia Capo shaking down the whole country. But now he only has Crimea, will have to pay a high price to remain there (if reason & sanity prevail) and is fully exposed as the Mafia Boss he is.

That will sink deep in him.

Ukraine has an area of 603,628 km2 (233,062 sq mi), making it the largest country entirely within Europe.

I am not talking about Ukraine, only Crimea.

Some leftard at the WaPo was arguing that thsi was just like Benghazi because it was so unexpected.

'Cause no one could see that an isolated US diplomatic outpost full of weapons in a Muslim country put into chaos by US actions might be attacked by jihadists.

Just like Benghazi, we had months to see what Putin was up to, but prepared nothing.

But it's OK, as long as nothing contradicts the narrative of Obama's great leadership and the khumbaya 'whirled-peas' leftist world view.

Actually, Obama's passivity is so bad even the WaPo editorial board has an extremely critical piece out this am.

So also was the canal zone part of the US.

We gave it back to Panama in 1977, and Russia was signatory to the 1994 accords recognizing Ukraine's territorial integrity in exchange for Ukraine giving up its nuclear weapons.

Guess we fooled 'em, eh?

So you're OK that our word means nothing? That it's OK for us to stand back and have a hissy fit 'cause the world is places unfair burdens on the US or the US places unfair burdens on it's soldiers?

Strange to see the isolationist right make common cause with the America hating left.

As well they should have, given his attempt to become Putin-lite.

The MSM are treating this as if they think the Republicans should be pounding the tables for war and Saint Barack lighting the incense for peace. That's a convenient, if overused framing, but it does not serve to cover the obvious facts that (1) 0bama's administration didn't see this coming, (2) haven't a plan, and (3) have projected the image of weakness that gave Putin - what was that lovely phrase they used to use about Bush I in Iraq? - the "green light for invasion."

This is, in reality, a bit of stupid political posturing on the part of the MSM and will have no effect whatever on the events in Crimea or the Ukraine. Neither will any foreseeable U.S. policy from here on out. With Bush that would have elicited screams, with 0bama, hey, it's OK. Hypocrites.
