Paul Ryan: 'Budget Isnt a Serious Document; Its a Campaign Brochure' 'This budget never balancesever.' Daniel Halper March 4, 2014 11:55 AM
Paul Ryan, chairman of the House Budget Committee, slams President Obama's budget in a statement released by his office.
The Presidents budget is yet another disappointmentbecause it reinforces the status quo. It would demand that families pay more so Washington can spend more. It would hollow out our defense capabilities. And it would do nothing to preserve or strengthen our entitlements. The President has just three years left in his administration, and yet he seems determined to do nothing about our fiscal challenges," says Ryan.
This budget isnt a serious document; its a campaign brochure. In divided government, we need leadership and collaboration. And in this budget, we have neither.
Ryan's office sends along these "Key Facts."
This budget increases spending by $791 billion over the budget windowand by $56 billion above the Bipartisan Budget Act levels in 2015 alone.
It adds $8.3 trillion to the national debt over the budget window.
It calls for $1.8 trillion in new taxesthough the President has already raised taxes by $1.7 trillion during his administration.
This budget never balancesever.
And yet, Paul (I think I can call you Paul because I screwed up, held my nose and actually voted for your ass in 2012) you gave Obama a blank frigging check on the debt limit that you and Boehner passed and then gave to that coward McConnell....just fine...ducky...you twit.
You sold your right, and the right of those dumbass constituents that voted for you again to have any indignation or retort about anything this Muslim does.
Just go the hell away you traitor. You are nothing now.
The guy who rolled over for Patty Murray’s budget has no gravitas.
Did Ryan’s budget get passed? If not, you can’t say it wouldn’t increase GDP 5%.
Paul Ryan has committed political suicide by embracing AMNESTY and by FAILING to push REAL Investigations into the IRS and BENGHAZI.
Ryan’s initial budget was good, and the “deal” with the Dems was probably as good as we could have gotten, considering the circumstances. However, the lack of GDP growth was unconnected to the budget but connected with the Dems’ other policies, which have essentially suppressed our economy.
I think he’s worth listening to.
Ryan’s amnesty stance was the end. He’s dead to me now.
The Ryan Plan assumes massive, prolonged GDP growth for decades on end which outpaces new debt creation. FACT: Since 1980 there has not been ONE three month period in which GDP growth exceeded new debt in the United States.
Funny thing is that when Paul Ryan pitched his own ‘budget resolutions’ and was asked what the point was, given there was zero chance of it being law (they were not even real budgets), he replied ‘Its a moral document’.
His medicare reform bill idea was a total joke, he has no credibility on this.
I tend to agree. I’ll never support Ryan on the national stage, and dismiss easily his positions on things like amnesty, but his budget stuff IS worth listening to and repeating. Not because it comes from. Ryan, but because it happens to be right on the money.
I also remember pretty well how he owned Obama, to Obama’s face, at that health care dog/pony show years ago.
He was very good on the health care matter. I think, unfortunately, one of the problems with Ryan on the national stage is that he comes off as what he is, kind of a policy wonk, and doesn’t really have the ability to get people behind his ideas.
Americans, unfortunately, have switched to wanting glib celebrities with no experience and no knowledge as their political chiefs.
....and to think Ryan was considered to be a future great leader; what a bust!
What does Paul Ryan actually do other than talk then give in?
Paul Ryan. Mr. Disappointment.
This power seeker thinks such a remark as this one serves as red meat for conservatives.
Unfortunately, for some strictly fiscal conservatives, it may work. We are overrun with liberal Republicans.
