"If we must have an enemy at the head of Government, let it be one whom we can oppose, and for whom we are not responsible, who will not involve our party in the disgrace of his foolish and bad measures." - Alexander Hamilton

"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party over to the traitors in the battle just ended. We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support. Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates wouldn’t make any sense at all." -- President Ronald Reagan

"A thing moderately good is not so good as it ought to be. Moderation in temper is always a virtue; but moderation in principle is always a vice." - Thomas Paine 1792

"It does not take a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men." - Samuel Adams

"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams

Houston Repress called Ted Cruz the turkey of the year last year in their “turkeys” issue that comes out every November.

In the past it has been Rick Perry, Tom DeLay, pretty much any high profile Republican in the state.

It’s a free “alternative” weekly with sex ads that fund its publication. And while some may say “live and let live”, the big scandal with the advertising is that underaged and trafficked women are sold there.

The press has anointed Rand Paul, and he’s venal enough to believe he can be President, even with his whack job Daddy who will not be able to restrain himself once Paul wins the nomination.

Cruz, in my opinion, is a guy who can win and is conservative enough to change things in DC. If he can’t do it, they should drop a nuke on DC during SOTU and start over. All kidding aside. It’s come to that.

Looks like the new owners of Village Voice Media don’t own backpage.com anymore, but there are still plenty of sex ads and the controversy about the nature of the women being sold is still open.

The "Houston Press" is pretty far out on the left fringe of the political spectrum so I rarely take to heart anything they have to say about anyone or anything on the political right. This sounds like a social liberal (maybe a libertarian) political hack hoping and wishing Sen Cruz would just go away.

Here's to Sen. Ted Cruz for President in 2016. And (hopefully) Sarah Palin for VP. I'm sure a place can be found for Rand Paul somewhere in a Cruz Administration.

They can point out Reagan’s rule about not criticizing fellow Republicans but I dare say the ones being criticized are not true Republicans. Reagan himself would have a hard time not calling these backstabbing traitors on the carpet.

If we have a paul vs cruz war, Cruz will win. It is an odd willingness to bluntly tell it like it is in a sort of Sarah Palin way, but he has a LOT more credibility, mainly because he’s a man and a senator. Yes, the liberals that hate Palin are overtly sexist about it. They can’t play that card against Cruz. It really leaves them with nothing.

BTW there was already a thread on Pauls remarks, but I guess you prefer the Houston Press to Breitbart.

Reagan's 11th Commandment has as its premise the assumption that all republican politicians believe in the essential planks of the party's platform - curbing wasteful spending, decentralization/localization of government control, strong defense, etc.

Perhaps this was true 30 years ago, but there is plenty of evidence these days indicating that is not the case. These phonies have been winning office by running as 'conservatives' and running the country as socialists.

Someone needs to call them out.

Thanks for this thread.

_______

HEY! Dianna Wray! Yeah YOU!

These were the lead words in your article: “Lots of people in the Republican party are fed up with Sen. Ted Cruz, but Sen. Rand Paul is the guy who is doing something about it.”

The phrase “Lots of People in the Republican Party” implies that there are so many people that you do not even have to document that any of them have names!

We Conservatives have names for these “Lots of People in the Republican Party,” and they are known to us collectively as “Republicans in Name Only,” “RINOs,” or RINO Cowards.

In the US House the Leadership of the RINO Cowards include “Benghazi Cover Up” Boehner, “Can’t Impeach Obama” Cantor, and “Cave In” Ryan.

In “Do Nothing Legal” Reid’s US Senate, the Leadership of the RINO Cowards include “Son-of-a-Mitch” McConnell, “Corrupt as they come” Cornyn, and Loser Emeritus “Wacko Bird” McCain.

The above partial list of your “Lots of People” are all RINO Cowards, tried and true who have done their best to avoid doing their Constitutional Duty for the last five years of lawless Obamanation Rule.

Replacement of these RINO Cowards is essential to the survival of the US Constitution by either Senator Paul or Senator Cruz.

BTW, all of us Conservatives have been fed up, for more years than we care to remember, with you journalists in the Left Stream Media.

Paul or Cruz either would be fine by me. Both would be great.

My only absolute "I'm voting 3rd party" guy is Christie - and this is from a guy who voted twice for him for governor.

I have higher standards for America than I do for Jersey.

But I will remind anyone who thinks we will win elections by trashing previous Republican nominees or holding oneself out as some paragon in the mold of Reagan, that splintering the party is not the route to victory."

I would point out to the gentlemen that the party has no demonstrated clue about the route to victory...and remind him that the eGOP has declared war on the Tea Party.
