Catholic League's Bill Donohue Files Application to March in Gay Pride Parade

Bill Donohue, president of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights, says he has filed an application to march in the New York City Gay Pride Parade this year.

Donohue — who is boycotting the makers of Guinness Stout, Sam Adams, and Heineken beers after they bowed to gay-rights groups and dropped their support for New York's St. Patrick's Day Parade — says he wants to prove a point.

"I went to the managing director of the Heritage of Pride Parade and ... said, listen, I want to march under my own banner, 'Straight Is Great,' in the 2014 Heritage of Pride Parade. Do you agree?" Donohue told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"Are they going to let me do it or not? I'm waiting to see what they want to say," he said Wednesday.

A laudable effort, but not equivalent to the St Patrick's parade.

In the SP parade, no other the participant was marching with an identifier pertaining to how they behaved sexually in private in their bedrooms. The homosexuals wanted to announce their behavior to accentuate their vocation. Regarding the Homo Pride parade, the sole purpose of the parade (I suppose) is to identify folks by their sexual behavior. There is no reason for Donahue to be denied the right to march announcing his preferred sexual behavior in a parade organized specifically for that purose.

Bill Donohue is a man with principles and he takes action when he sees that the opposition is crossing the "red line".

If he gets the Irish Catholics to cut back on their consumption of Guiness the message will be heard, loud and clear at hdq.

His trying to enter the Gay Parade is a stroke of pure genius, and I can't wait for their rejection/acceptance notice and their explanation.

I think this misses the point of the St. Patrick’s Day parade rejection of homos marching under gay pride banners. I doubt a group of heterosexuals would have been allowed to march in that parade under a “proud fornicators” banner. I think “gay pride” parades are disgusting and should not be allowed in decent society.

This would be a very bad PR move for the Catholics. They’ll lose more than they’ll gain. For every one gay pride parade that the Catholics want to be in, there will be a hundred other parades that the queers will want to be in. And now, they’ll have the mantra of “we let the Catholics in our parade, they should let us in theirs”. The church should NOT accept their ‘kind offer’. When good and evil ‘compromise’, evil gains and good loses.

Too late. The sponsors of the Gay Pride parade sent out a press release saying they let Donohue know where he could fill out the registration form, and noted “Mr. Donohue and his group are free to participate in the 2014 march. His group’s presence affirms the need for this year’s Pride theme, ‘We Have Won When We’re One.’”
