Well..., the sooner push-back comes, the sooner some folks are going to have to confront the reality they ushered in by their inaction.
I hate to agree with your ‘sooner/better’, but this has to end and end quickly.

There are a lot of very pissed off potential victims in L-ville right now.
The city government, very liberal and highly intimidated by some loud racist blacks in the local government, does not realize that by pretending this is not what it is are building a tinderbox.
Kentucky is an open carry state, and it is not difficult to get your CCDW here. I like Louisville, but I don’t go into town without carrying. What I see as inevitable is these animals going after someone that is carrying. Then it will hit the fan. If I am in my car, I won’t need to pull a gun, I drive a 2000 pound weapon.

Hard labor for violent criminals sounds like a great idea. And the dirtier jobs go to the repeat offenders.

I live here... I heard local media reporting that the mob was closer to 200 people.
I’ve NEVER heard 30.. even from the first reports.

I agree. And the police are going to be fully to blame because their “tactics” (watching whitey get beat, doing nothing) which they wrongly assume will keep major violence from breaking out going to cause the eventual race-war in the cities.
If the police don’t do something to stop this bullshit the West End is going to be a smouldering parking lot and there will be blood on the streets.

So, here are some links.
First, the early reporting. Cops say it's unusual, area is safe.
Then the follow up. Local businesses call BS on the cops' stories, say this sort of thing happens on a regular basis.
And, as this story points out, there was even a related incident the day before. Except this one was a knockout-game attack on a gay couple. Which, unlike normal MUY-on-White attacks WILL get the local politicians to sit up and take notice. I expect that the Mayor and City Council will do exactly what DC's Mayor Gray did after a similar attack not to long ago: hold a big press conference to show their support for gay marriage.
Finally, this story, from 2011. Seems to show not only that this sort of thing has a long-term history, but the cops and politicians are fudging the numbers:
Your Louisville City Hall Examiner has received several confidential communications from LMPD officers who claim that the higher-ups have instructed them to downplay the crimes on the waterfront. Cops are encouraged to put a different location on incident and arrest reports. Instead of Waterfront Park, they are told to write North First Street, or East Main Street, and so forth.

It didn't have to come to this .. there have been hundreds & hundreds of thousands of outstanding black
Americans throughout our history, as there also are currently.
But absent their community getting its own cultural house in order, civilized citizens must protect themselves from the thugs among 'em if PC-cowed cops won't do their jobs.
A mixed race society will never be Nirvana, but animals such as these were granted license from Casa Halfricana in '09, and what little interracial progress had been made has since about evaporated, imho.
All black Americans out there should be collectively outraged that such is the current reality.

are there not two black cultures? A minority that have embraced America and its culture of work and success.
There is a second, a majority culture that rejects America and has reverted to the village, to African tribalism.

A href="http://www.wlky.com/news/leaders-focus-on-keeping-louisville-safe-after-weekend-violence/25157166">More talk from the politicians, including this gem from the Mayor: "What we're interested in is people who are interested in being part of the solution. It's easy to be a critique from the couch."
Be careful there, Mr. Mayor: you might get people who see "being part of the solution" as them engaging in concealed carry in the area.
Two other stories:
here and
here. More talk about how the area really is "safe".
Not mentioned is that the ramp on the Indiana side of the Big Four pedestrian bridge is scheduled to open right before the Derby. Would LOVE to see the elected officials on that side of the river put the opening on hold until Louisville actually demonstrates substantive action to prevent this sort of thing from happening again.
This is the amusing one.
"Police urge anyone with information about Sat. assaults to come forward." Maybe someone can suggest to the police that information might be more forthcoming if they were to issue DESCRIPTIONS of those involved in the riot ...
