Situational ethics. Many of us practiced it in the last election and the military brass practiced it here over the gay issue.
Just remember all the excuses people posted why they HAD to vote for Romney and how many screamed ‘PURIST!” and “Principles don’t matter”. None of those people should be shocked that the brass is like them. Because they are one and the same.
The next time anyone sees a freeper spouting the ‘no matter what’ nonsense, this is the perfect example to throw in their face as what that attitude gets them. Liberals have done much to destroy integrity in America. People abandoning it in exchange for ‘wins’ that are anything but, nor ever come, have IMO, damaged it far more. Because it’s US that are supposed to have, espouse and demand integrity.
Sadly Norm, there are still some here throwing the ‘purist’ crap around :p
I hope and pray we don’t have to go through that for the next elections, it just dirtied the waters more.
Not the same. If a large number of military leaders had resigned in protest, it would have sent a loud message to Obama and the country. It may or may not have changed Obama’s mind.
In the situation you describe, in fact a large number of republicans DID stay home or vote for another candidate in 2012. What was the result?
We got Obama. That outcome was a guaranteed outcome of that protest.
Thanks.
