In this case the movie was better than the book. One of my fav. movies. I liked the psychological bent the movie had. The only thing Christine wanted was to be loved and to be the only one. It’s how I saw it.
My BIL recommended that movie to my wife and I about 3 decades ago. To this day, we still both think it was the WORST movie we ever saw and joke about it.
