Actually the article says:

“The use of chlorine as a weapon of war was banned by the 1925 Chemical Weapons Convention, which was promulgated after its use in World War I by the Germany army to gas hundreds of thousands of allied troops at Ypres.”

But if you somehow want to blame our side for the horrors Assad is doing, be my guest.

2banana was not blaming our side, merely pointing out historical facts. The original statement in the article makes it seem as if Germany suddenly engaged in a one time attack that was so awful that the world recoiled and banned the use of poison gases. That is not the case. Both sides used poison gases in large quantities during the war.
