I live in a county of roughly 30,000. 20% (6000) are on SNAP. They are perhaps the biggest identifiable group of customers Walmart here has. Because nearly everyone knows everyone here, or their momma, daddy, sister, brother, cousin, I think whoever is in charge of the program is a little bit too lax in verifying eligibility. Just a thought. Other counties to the south have a much less percentage on it.
Its the biggest cash cow for local economies - I don’t expect them to tighten standards or to make life tough for the local Wal-mart.
SNAP and EBT are here more or less to stay.
