They worked, for a time. The difference between an "A" rating of "90+" and a "B" rating of "89.5-" was immense, basically, it was the difference between "OK to eat here" and "You're putting your health at risk. And don't even think of looking in the bathrooms!".
Then, magically a couple of years later, ALL of the restaurants started receiving "A" grades. Many places were at "98" out of "100" or better. And I've seen a double handful at "100.5" and even "104". Which must be pretty hard to get on a scale of 100....especially at a mediocre fast food joint like Taco Bell.
Liberals would say: "See!! See!! Our program WORKS! All of these filthy restaurants have cleaned up their act!"
Pragmatic Conservatives (like myself) say "Really? Every single restaurant is perfectly acceptable to eat in? Who's getting paid off??"
It’s absolutely ridiculous, I grew up in NYC from the 1960s to the 1990s well before any of this Nazi-esque “ratings” system ever started, and not ONCE did I ever get food poisoning or even a belly ache, and I use to eat in some out of the way places in Chinatown where they got strange looking animals hanging in the windows lol. It’s all about fascism, it really is and it absolutely infuriates me that whole lettering system. What RIGHT does the government have to tell the public “Do not do business with this person because WE say he is no good”? F them!! Seriously! That is stuff straight out of the Nazi handbook “Do not do business with these people because we say Jews are no good” Same issue going on here in New York city, no surprise whatsoever that the minority owned restaurants get the lower ratings. Why? Because they don’t make tons of money.
That is Bloombergs REAL legacy, NO different from this....
