Obama Spiritual Adviser and Megachurch Pastor Joel Hunter Launches Interfaith Initiative to Tackle Climate Change

Florida pastor Joel Hunter is launching an initiative that empowers multifaith leaders to lead and engage others on climate solutions.

The initiative, called Blessed Tomorrow, brings together more than 20 evangelical, Catholic, Protestant, Muslim and Jewish leaders who are committed to working with their congregations and communities in response to climate change.

“Blessed Tomorrow empowers faith leaders from across religious traditions to both steward God’s creation and inspire their congregations, communities and other leaders to do the same,” a statement says.

“Faith leaders and their communities have been at the forefront of moving America forward throughout our nation’s history. From abolition to human rights, we have been there to answer our call to care for all of God’s creation. Blessed Tomorrow builds on that tradition by bringing together a diverse group of leaders from across the country who are committed to making an impact on one of the greatest moral imperatives of our time—climate change,” says Hunter, senior pastor of Northland, a Church Distributed, in Central Florida.

The Blessed Tomorrow website provides resources that leaders can use to inspire and empower their congregations and communities. It also allows congregations to create a “Path to Positive” plan, which helps congregations be better stewards of God’s creation.

Joel Hunter tries to extend his 15 minutes of fame. Another example of what happens when a preacher wishes to of the world rather than in the world.

Fitting, as global warming is a religion, not science.

I remember reading a Christian fiction book about 30 years ago. In it, one of the “apostate” churches was a large megachurch and you knew they were apostate because the pastor that preached about saving the whales and environmentalism instead of Jesus and the bible.

And here we are...

The ACLU is MIA as usual.

THIS is a conflict of church and state if there ever was one. Liberals have used churches for political purposes before so its no surprise. But this global warming angle is quite a stretch even for them.

He has a book on Amazon, A New Kind of Conservative. The first comment:

I attended Pastor Hunter's church for 12 years. I personally observed his "transformation" from pastor to politician. This book, like it's predecessor, Right Wing, Wrong Bird, is a favorite of the "evangelical Marxist" crowd (Ron Sider, Jim Wallis, etc). Pastor Joel is a decent, God loving man. Having said that, this book perverts the Christian message in my view. I believe that Christ appealed to individuals on a personal basis. If He were to return today, he wouldn't hop a plane to Washington to lobby for progressive taxation. No, He would want to know what the body of Christ - His Church - was doing to care for the poor and disadvantaged. Where does Hunter go wrong? His reliance on government to solve problems that are the responsibility of the church. He attends to physical interests rather than focusing on the soul. He is content (as I have personally observed) to advance the causes of "creation care" (which he originally termed "global warming") and unbridled immigration. In his world, as in this book, Hunter wants a left leaning right wing. He would be better off avoiding the use of labels let alone the creation of new ones. Joel Hunter is a good man. But he is dead wrong in his quest to fold so-called "conservatism" into our existing socialist tendencies. It doesn't to the church any good to do so. Nor does it enrich individual Christians.

You would think that a “preacher” would know that man has zero control over the weather. These people are just nuts. Must be a whole lot of money being paid to these people to push this BS for BO.

Joel Hunter and his ilk cannot control the weather. But they could have some influence on our crumbling culture. This is another case of misguided libs.

The Blessed Tomorrow website provides resources that leaders can use to inspire and empower their congregations and communities.

I highly doubt the church I attend would slide into the "global warming" dogma craze, but if it did, I'd be out the door faster than you can say "bye-bye tithe."

Most of the Church is infiltrated or lukewarm.
I wonder what Joel Osteen’s position on statism. Oh, that’s right, he doesn’t have one.

Yep, Obama is the “John the Baptist” of the anti-Christ, preparing the way, setting things up for his reign...

this is the “one world religion” part.

Last week my Sunday study guide directed me to Romans 8.

Verses 19-22 (New King James) jumped out at me:

19 For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God.

20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope;

21 because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

22 For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now.

Sounds like today, and 2nd Law of Thermo in action.

My interpretation:

Creation subjected to futility (turned over to man)

Creation will be delivered (at Christ’s coming)

If my pastor started pushing some liberal clap trap like globull warming, I would go up to him and tell him that this would be the last time I would ever attend his church.
