WEST PALM BEACH -- If you support Florida's Stand Your Ground law as a politician, a controversial political activist is coming after you.

Reverend Al Sharpton has fought the law since the death of Trayvon Martin.

Sunday, he announced a new action against state lawmakers who support it.

At a benefit for the Grace Baptist Church of St. Lucie at the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach, Rev. Sharpton says his National Action Network group is shifting its focus onto the Sunshine State with the hopes of repealing the law by changing the makeup of the state legislature and affecting the gubernatorial race. He says a new campaign involving his organization and a network of church leaders across the state will target lawmakers up for reelection.

“We're going to spend a lot of time in districts in the state campaigning… to make sure that voters understand that to reelect them is to vote a law that's unfair,” Sharpton told CBS 12 News.

Stand Your Ground opponents were unsuccessful in their fight to get state lawmakers to repeal the law in the recent session of the Florida State legislature.

geez, not this crap again, face palm.

for the millionth time, Trayvon Martin’s case had nothing to do with stand your ground laws. His defense was that it was a case of self defense.

Yet the liberals jumped all over the stand your ground laws as being the cause of Trayvon’s shooting and Zimmerman’s aquittal at trial.

Facts don’t matter to the liberals. But it’s also frustrating that our fact challenged MSM won’t call them on their incorrect facts.

Sharpton’s schtick has gotten old in New York so he’s on the prowl for more fertile ground.

“...Al Sharpton is coming for your seat, ...”

Be prepared to lose, Al. When it comes to people protecting themselves from thugs, they’re going to vote to protect themselves every time.

-Reverend Al Sharpton has fought the law since the death of Trayvon Martin.-

Given that the Stand Your Ground law was never a part of the GZ/TM trial, what is Al barking about now?

This is the big lie technique. The liberals decided to go after stand your ground laws, even though that law in Florida had nothing to do with the Trayvon Martin case. Facts don’t matter to the liberals when they are pushing their latest crisis cause of the day.

And the media compliance here is frustrating. The entire premise of fighting stand your ground laws because of Trayvon Martin is false, yet nobody in the MSM is pointing out that simple fact.

Perhaps someone should take Al on a tour of the everglades. Maybe he's never seen an alligator? ;)

Being opposed by Sharpton is grounds for a new commercial to tout this development as a positive.

It seems clear to me that [the usual suspects] had formulated a strategy to attack SYG laws. A key point of that strategy was a cause célèbre that would serve to rally the masses. They jumped the gun, and picked the Zimmerman-Martin case, because it sounded perfect. Zimmerman was to be the evil white man (and a Jew, for bonus points) with a gun, who shot the cherubic black poster child, for no other reason than his desire to stand his ground (in his "gated community").

When it turned out that Zimmerman was actually a part-black Hispanic, non-Jew, living in a down-scale "gated community", with no gates; and that the cherubic poster-child was actually a large, violent, drug-dealing punk; those facts barely slowed them down. Zimmerman became a "white Hispanic"; and the media used only photos of a much younger Martin, which projected the necessary image of a cherubic victim. The facts that SYG laws were never invoked, and that Zimmerman was cleared in a courtroom; are but minor challenges, for those skilled in the arts of rewriting history.

It doesn't matter, it's in liberal mush heads like $harpton that Trayvon was all about "stand your ground" and by gollies, that's the way it's gonna be.

The great thing is, even a few Democrats in Florida support the SYG. Let’s see if the racist attacks them.

I can see this resulting in about six Democrats in safe districts picking up a couple of hundred votes they didn’t need, and about a dozen Democrats in swing districts losing a thousand votes that they desperately needed.
