I actually read an article here on it on Freerepublic in 1999. I saved it to a folder at work and it was the one time in my life I was fired from a job (because someone who mattered happened on it. I remember the article well...

The very first sentence was “We homosexuals have always been a sickly lot.”, and went on to discuss the litany of health problems associated with the homosexual lifestyle. And yet, it then discussed what AIDS was doing to the homosexual community, not just in deaths, but changing the whole culture.

BTW, I was a contractor and went on to a much better contract after that one, so it is ok. ;-)

1. GLAD you moved onto a much better contract. No need to stay with a jerk "who mattered."

2. The "health problems" for gay men are obvious if they don't use condoms. But the other stuff, the drugs and alcohol, don't always translate to men or women. Things might have done so 30 years ago but not now.
It is certainly not germane for gay women.

3. The odd thing in California is that homosexuality is so widely accepted (not difficult given their small numbers) that homosexuals feel GOOD about NOT staying bunched together in city districts. They have moved out of the urban areas to ALL parts of California.
So, the urban areas do NOT see their big numbers any more. The other counties now have homosexuals living in their midst. They have hit suburbia.
The infamous "Castro" district in San Francisco is now a heterosexual community. I know that because some years ago I saw the STRANGEST SITE:
a young, heterosexual couple, a man and a woman (Lord, have mercy.),
walking together (Lord, have mercy.)
pushing a stroller (Lord, have mercy.)
with a BABY (Lord, have mercy.)
that looked like them (Lord, have mercy.) as much as babies can look like parents. I'm going with color of skin and whatever hair said baby might have had.
In fact, I looked around and saw a dearth of the usual gay men and a plethora of "normal" American men and women, mostly youngish.

*****WHODDA thunk?
