Almost two years after a Haifa court ruled that Israel was not negligent in the 2003 death of American activist Rachel Corrie during a protest against IDF operations in the Gaza Strip, the Supreme Court heard her familys appeal of the verdict Wednesday afternoon.
Speaking before the hearing in Jerusalem, Craig Corrie, the activists father, said the lower courts ruling had given the army immunity and impunity.
I think thats very dangerous, he said. I hope the Israeli high court will change the findings, but if they dont, I hope the world and the world press will bring it into the open and Israels friends and other nations will help them behave in the right way.
Corrie, a 23-year-old native of Olympia, Washington, was crushed to death on March 16, 2003, by a military armored bulldozer clearing vegetation in a combat zone along the Gaza-Egypt border. She was a member of the International Solidarity Movement, a pro-Palestinian group that has sent Western volunteers to interfere with Israeli military activities in Gaza and the West Bank.
During the hearing, lawyer Hussein Abu Hussein, reading from torn handwritten notes, made the case that the area was not formally declared a closed military zone the generals order has never been found and that the motivation to continue the operation, amid civilian protest, was rooted in avoiding the establishment of a dangerous principle rather than an urgent war-like necessity.
However, the state attorney said the incident occurred in the most dangerous spot of all the places IDF operated at the time.

That's the key, a reasonable person. Both Carrie and her parents were liberals.
Corrie was clearly visible because of a bright yellow jacket she was wearing
Anybody who's ever driven a large bulldozer can tell you about blind spots. Add to that that it was an armored tractor and the yellow jacket is risible.
This is giving me a hankering for some flap-jacks!
The IDF has immunity concerning thing the do to a FOREIGN TERRORIST! No way!
Again, only a fool or person committed to suicide would stand in front of such a vehicle and not move.
Carrie Corrie is guilty of suicide. She was not killed by the bulldozer or by the Caterpillar company, She was killed by her own self-actions!
How on earth anyone who isn’t a terrorist finds sympathy for this dimwit is beyond me. I could feel bad for her parents, but I don’t. I have two daughters, and neither of them will be killed by a bulldozer while being a useful idiot of a viscous bloodthirsty group. If you’re going to be an activist somewhere, you might consider that people fighting for their lives might not care what happens to you if you get in their way.
Saint Pancake is back in the news!
When are these morons going to realize their liberal pc rules and laws don’t apply outside the US?
“Saint Pancake”
BWAHAHAHAHA!
She brought self-righteousness to a bulldozer fight.
You and I can easily see that Rachel Corrie was an idiot and put herself in position to be killed. But some people just don’t see it that way.
Didn’t her parents ever tell her not to play in the street? Or not to play around heavy equipment? Not to play cat and mouse games with a bulldozer, because the dozer will win???
Her parents created her persona...they’re just as, if not more evil and responsible for her death than the dimwit is.
No sympathy here...except maybe for the dozer operator who had to scrape that $hit off his dozer at the end of the day.
look... her cause was something she believed in so strongly that she was willing to literally put her life on the line... okay... so there... she did it... she died for what she believed in... at that moment, she decided it was worth her life... now her family wants to have it both ways...
Love to. Just give us a single state with a port. We’ll pay our share of the US national defense on a per-person allocation. Leave us TF alone regarding all other federal expenditures and the reach of your democrat courts. We’ll take it from there. We’ll find out, once and for all, what a reversion to Constitutional government will mean to prosperity.
The real story is she was pushed into the tractor by her lovely arab friends to create a needed American death.
But, hey, who is to worry about facts?
Whoops! Wrong thread.
