There was an interesting post on another thread a while back laying out a hypothetical 2-3 week scenario starting with the first night of kick in the doors gun confiscation.

Truth is that even all of this massive swat capability can only go after an extremely limited portion of the gun owning population in a single night. Night two gets really interesting since gun owners are now alerted and ready. Night three and four you start seeing organized ambushes and the distinct possibility that law enforcement will cease to participate - even flip sides. The hypothetical eventually ended up with assassinations of politicians and media figures AND (perhaps most significantly) the curtailment of food shipments into urban and even suburban areas.

IOW a society-changing nightmare scenario with an enormous amount of bloodshed that no one actually wants.

You have nailed it pretty well. Add to the mix the near certainty that the grid will be put down in the area of conflict and half the enraged population will be firing two and going home and it will be a disaster for the govt.

“A U.S. official said the Obama administration considered but rejected deploying military force under the directive during the recent standoff with Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy and his armed supporters”

Somebody in his circle was likely smart enough to ask Obumbles if he was ready for CWII. That’s all it would take at this point.
