JACKSON, Miss. A nursing home scandal and a vow to make em squeal in Washington are at the center of Senate Republican primaries in Mississippi and Iowa Tuesday, as voters in eight states write the next chapter in the battle to control the GOP and the Senate.
For six-term Mississippi Sen. Thad Cochran, its the race of a lifetime against conservative challenger Chris McDaniel, the faces of establishment Washington and the tea party movement that drove the GOP to the House majority in 2010. McDaniel has commanded considerable energy from Mississippis conservatives to counter any damage his campaign suffered when four of his supporters were arrested on charges of photographing Cochrans bedridden wife in a bizarre plot. Cochran, meanwhile, has campaigned with Southern gentility, the GOP establishment behind him and a promise to leverage his Senate seniority for federal help for the state.
What Cochran calls a Mississippi moment is part of a primary derby in eight states Tuesday that will help determine whether Republicans have a credible chance of gaining the six Senate seats required to take control of the chamber from Democrats. Voters also will choose nominees in the race for the House, where Republicans have a clear advantage of staying in the majority. Gubernatorial primaries are taking place in Alabama, Iowa, New Mexico, South Dakota and California, where Democratic Gov. Jerry Brown is seeking a fourth term this fall.

The one that’ll turn the tide is Cantor in Va. He needs to go and if he just barely wins it’ll be a wake up call to RINOS.
Going to be an exciting day. I hope there are sufficient wins to let this country know it still stands a chance.
“The one thatll turn the tide is Cantor in Va.”
That’s next Tuesday, the 10th. It’ll definitely be interesting!
I’d say it’s 50/50 if Joni Ernst gets enough to get over 35% and avoid a convention here in Iowa. It might be a late nite.

I wouldn’t know where to turn for impartial coverage if it weren’t for the ComPost.
There was one lady voting. It is a long ballot so it took me about ten minutes to complete it and during that time no one came in.

We voted this morning here in Alabama at 7:15. There were few turning out. I saw an article where only 25% are predicted to show up and vote. Nothing like freedom to cast a vote to bring out the crowd.
I’ve never understood the low turnout in primaries. Voting is five minutes out of my day two times a year. I can deal with it and know it’s coming.
