President Barack Obama swore as far back as 2008 he’d close the U.S.-run prison for terror suspects at Guantánamo Bay.
Five and a half years later, he finally took a real risk to get that process moving.
The president defied Congress over the weekend, ignoring a 30-day notice rule required by law to greenlight the transfer to Qatar of five alleged members of the Taliban held at Guantánamo in exchange for the release of Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl in Afghanistan.
It’s Obama’s most assertive move to shrink Guantánamo’s population since U.S. embassy bombings suspect Ahmed Ghailani was flown from the island prison to New York City under cover of darkness on June 9, 2009.
And it sends a clear message: As liberals and some conservatives have long urged, Obama is now willing to wield his executive powers to get the job done.

They call evil good and good evil.
Notice he never calls them “terrorists,” only refers to them as “terrorist suspects.”
IIRC when the hero of Benghazi entered office he said there was no war on terrorism, just AQ and in his eyes they seem to be someone we can send weapons to.
If you start calling terrorists, terrorists, then you have to admit to the wider war and you can’t let them out of military prison.

These Taliban are the guys who were shooting women in the soccer stadium. Pure evil.
An objective report about releasing inmates from Gitmo would list how many released detainees returned to battle and how many of them blew up civilians with suicide bombs.
One of the guys he released was a suspected war criminal accused of killing over a thousand people.
Joshua Gerstein of Politico praises Barack Hussein Obama, II for releasing 5 Taliban commanders for a deserter who hates the USA.
If I have ever encountered Stockholm Syndrome, this is a clinical example.

This time, if the reader can manage to get through the story without hysterical laughter, we learn that The Bravest And Smartest President Ever has made a virtue out of disregarding the Constitution, Congress, everyone in uniform, everyone who has had the misfortune to bargain with the Taliban, in short, everyone but the gaggle of preschool dropouts that populates the 0bama staff meetings, thrusting on bravely (but in a non-misogynistic way) against the furious resistance of the Republicans - well, the ones he's told, anyway, which is none of them - to grab the verdigris-covered brass ring of another foreign policy triumph. Or something. Remember, laughter is good for you, but under 0bamacare it costs.
