Christie touring country, reviving 2016 prospects

Chris Christie is plunging into what amounts to a cross-country revival tour, looking to recover from a clumsy political scandal and reclaim his place as a promising Republican presidential prospect.

In one recent week, it was on-the-ground politics in Tennessee and New Mexico. This week, after a campaign stop in Pennsylvania, the New Jersey governor returns to the late night comedy circuit with an appearance on NBC's "Tonight Show." Then he'll stop by Mitt Romney's Utah summit, a private event for donors and GOP establishment leaders, and the week after that he heads to Washington to court Christian conservatives at a national gathering of the Faith and Freedom Coalition.

All the while, he's raising a record-setting amount of money for other Republicans, and bolstering his political network in all the right places — Iowa and New Hampshire, in particular.

"As the president's record continues to get worse, as the Democratic Party brand continues to get worse across the country, this momentum's going to build," Christie said recently. "I've been looking forward to this year for quite some time

Can I just say that if he is nominated, it would be great theater to see him debate Clinton. I'd probably tape it. Err...DVR it.

Clumsy political scandal.....AP would NEVER label a demo scandal as such. AP are skilled propagandists, nothing more.

I can’t think of any repub that can really galvanize the party the way Hillary can with the dims. I think the country would have been better with her instead of zero, but the thought of dims in the executive for another 8 sickens me.

Ditto on everything you said. Granted I think she’s a little less worse than The Won, but I hope we haven’t deteriorated to the point that “better POTUS than The Won” is now the standard.

Ted Cruz. He doesn’t nuance his words for political expedience.

I find it annoying that Christie is touring the country when Jersey clearly has many problems to be solved. He ran on a platform of solving jersey’s problems.... so he should actually perform the duties of that office, and not spend large chunks of time out of state. If he wasn’t going to govern, he shouldn’t have run for reelection. Besides that, Christie’s policies and court picks suck.

More like flogging a dead horse.

The Democrats should have left him alone. He is a perfect candidate to lose to any Democrat.

No and forever no. Yep, just because of one little bridge closing.

You used your office to illegally inflict emotional and financial distress on your own citizens, because their mayor didn’t endorse you. It was reckless, venal, and endangered public safety. I don’t know how you still have your job. In fact, how are you not in jail?

Imagine what an entitled, “I Am the State!” type petty dictator like you would do to his “enemies” with the powers of the Oval Office (and the IRS) at his disposal. Oh, wait...

Oh, you didn’t know about the bridge closing? You’re also a liar.

I live on the other side of the country, and I haven’t forgotten this. And I won’t forget it. Just like you never forget the extra icing at Cinnabon.
