The Supreme Court has rejected a challenge to California’s law that bars mental counseling aimed at turning gay minors straight.

In Harris, the Court refuses to extend Abood. These employees can’t be required to contribute to unions

Dumb law. What a therapist and a patient does and the goals of that therapy is not the business of the government.

They’ll be no mental counseling going on for sexual deviants in California.

Suddenly SCOTUS cares about state laws? Even ones that violate the First amendment?

Should have presented this case as a freedom of religion issue. There is nothing in the case that would prevent religious organizations from preaching tha homosexual acts are sins and offer religious support and counseling to help those seeking therapy from a religious counsellor.

All a Christian therapist would need to do is associate with a church or establish a Christian organization to help those seeking counselling.

Yes, that sounds like it has a stronger basis — keeping the issue within the context of a household of faith.

There is a determined segment of secular therapists in this field, and by all reports the quest is often successful, though not always.

However, the overarching divine love context furnished by the gospel is the best medium (I unabashedly assert) for resolving any sexual perversion issue. True love begets true love. Indifference or hate begets more of the same.

This wasn’t a “ruling.” The Court didn’t hear the case (they only hear about 1% of cases filed with them). That leaves the lower court’s ruling in place, but sets no precedent.

I fully agree.
The real issue is not one that can be solved by more laws, nor is it a social issue (thought it does have social impact), but rather an issue of the heart — since no law can change the heart, all law is insufficient to address the issue. This is why we need a savior and, thank God, we have Him in the form of Jesus.
