‘Stamp Them Out’: On the New Sexual Moralism (J Barro calls for shunning of Traditionalists)
National Review Online ^ | July 24, 2014 | Andrew Walker & Owen Strachan

Posted on 07/24/2014 12:24:41 PM PDT by C19fan

Last night, New York Times reporter Josh Barro tweeted out a disturbing message: “Anti-LGBT attitudes are terrible for people in all sorts of communities. They linger and oppress, and we need to stamp them out, ruthlessly.”

This is rather shocking. Barro is no angry blogger writing manifestos in his basement. He is a respected reporter from a prestigious newspaper that prides itself on equanimity in the face of heated debate. Yet he seems, by any reasonable measure, to be fomenting a campaign to rout all dissenters from the sexual revolution. Erick Erickson wrote a brief response to Barro’s tweet, to which Barro replied that he thinks that “we should make anti-LGBT views shameful like segregation. Not saying we should off people.”

Law of Merited Impossibility entry of the day. If you follow Rob Dreher on The American Conservative he came with the law:

The Law Of Merited Impossibility is an epistemological construct governing the paradoxical way overclass opinion makers frame the discourse about the clash between religious liberty and gay civil rights. It is best summed up by the phrase, “It’s a complete absurdity to believe that Christians will suffer a single thing from the expansion of gay rights, and boy, do they deserve what they’re going to get.”

With the Pro-SSM side on the cusp to total victory the blinders have been coming off as we all knew from the beginning. It is not about tolerance but acceptance. People who believe in the millenia old definition of marriage will be treated like segregationists. An entirely predictable outcome since the SSM movement and gay rights in general have successfully claimed they are just a continuation of the Civil Right Movements.Where are all the libertarians who were so gung ho about gay marriage now with the allies now turning fascistic???

There was a dog once upon a time who loved to chase cars. One day he caught one. Bye-bye doggie.

I think the same fate may await these intolerant, arrogant tantrum-prone children. I strongly reserve the right to tolerate but disapprove of and avoid any behavior that runs against the civilized norm.

Who cares? The truth is I do not read his leftist rag nor do I hang with the morally depraved. They will not get close enough to me to shun because the shunning’s already been done by me.

Tell him to "come ahead."

Shunning?

Oh, we fully expect for the left to go for full on criminalization of opposition.

it’s not about you reading his blog. it’s about understanding the thinking of the left.

they’ve been pushing this mindset for a while and have stepped up attacks recently.

and yes, they’re fascists and should be attacked like the modern day nazis they are

I used to work with a guy who had three correspondence boxes on his desk. One was labeled, “IN”. A second one was labeled, “OUT” while the third was labeled, “Things that will take care of themselves if I leave them alone long enough”.

Needless to say the third option box kept filling up and this fellow was subsequently fired for not doing his work. What he need to tend to ultimately bit him in the butt.

What you are suggesting is basically the same (doing nothing), meanwhile, the so called “progressives”, the moral reprobates, are slowly gaining more and more control of the levers of power. When you turn around to look to see what you’ve shunned, I suspect to all our horror you won’t like what you see or have let happen.

The liberal left has the same moral fiber as Caligula.

sorry, but I’m not adopting the views or condoning the views of 2% of the population, especially when those views are largely predatory and violent.

Ruthlessly, huh?

Spoken like a true college sophomore that hasn’t been in a fight since the sixth grade.

From Wikipedia article on Josh Barro:

Barro describes himself as Republican, but has expressed opposition to many policies of the current Republican Party.

Kind of like Bill Maher, who falsely describes himself as "Libertarian".

It’s not even about acceptance. Acceptance is not good enough, they want us to worship them, celebrate them and offer up our children to them!

Actually, it’s “any reminder of God’s immutable Law” that has to be stamped out.

They know they are wrong. They know it is unnatural. They think stamping out all evidence of their guilt will make their ache go away. It won’t.

It boils down to “intolerant people must not be tolerated.” And the proponents of this nonsense would never stoop to violence - they’ll farm the job out to somebody else.

“Progressives” should be identified as “members of the “Perversion Party” .Insisting their definition to words or terms like marriage, racism, or titles like “Uncle Tom” in the English language are “PC”. It may make the use by them “PC”, perverted contradictions, but hardly politically correct .

"Barro describes himself as Republican, but has expressed opposition to many policies of the current Republican Party.[12] He has written that elites "are usually elite for good reason, and have better judgment than the average person."[13] He has been described by others as conservative, liberal, and libertarian.[14][15]

Barro lives in Queens, New York. He is gay and has written in support of same-sex marriage.[16] Barro is also an atheist. His father is macroeconomist Robert Barro"
