No president ever enjoys a carefree vacation.

Global hot spots and domestic problems frequently intrude. That's unquestionably true this year, as President Obama spends downtime on Martha's Vineyard.

Through it all though, Mr. Obama,

Dubya “vacationed” at his own ranch in Crawford, Texas.

Eh. I would rather see a new political party emerge. Call it the Conservative Party (when in reality it’ll be more of a Right-Center coalition similiar in UK).

Oh how they love covering this “Bush vacationed more than any president” meme with Obama. Every other day Obama is somewhere besides the white hut. He gives a 5 minute speech to some empty headed college students to have the taxpayers cover the costs of the trip then it’s another game of golf and a big shindig with the rich and famous. Those trips don’t get counted on the presidential vacation tally. I love when Mark Levin reads the daily presidential schedule. “11am, meeting with Joe Biden. 2pm: Meet with Advisors” then it’s off to a party. Moochelle travels to exotic expensive resorts for weeks at a time BUT attends some bogus “women’s conference” and tuhduh, the whole trip is paid for by us tax paying chumps and doesn’t get counted on the vacation tally.

The Obamas are shameless grifters and a disgrace to this country.

I would like to see a comparison of “days away from Washington”.

I'd also like to see what time of day the President starts work.

Talk about Banker's Hours!

Who is the guy at See BS “news” who has a brother who works for the Man Child?

Nothing but cover for the Clown.

If Bush were golfing like this, See BS “news” would be leading the lynch mob.

Remember how CBS jumped to Bush 41’s defense every time he went to Kennebunkport?

Nah, me neither.

Big difference from taking your buddies on trips all over the world than going to your ranch or meet vets or doing community work (other than hanging curtains that is)

Used to be CBS would at last zip Obama up when they were done.

Now they’re back so fast they don’t even bother.

... they report (the time off) leaves them fresher and better able to deal with the job ahead

1 out of 2 ain't bad.

On the first point, Obama should have a fresh mind every minute of the day, since, he doesn't worry about anything.

On the second point, Obama will never be "better able" or able at all to deal with the job ahead. He never had the experience or knowledge or wisdom to handle the job, and he still doesn't.

I seem to recall presidents acting like mature adults and scuttling their private fun in order to present a dignified and responsible President to the world.

Let me jog your memory a bit. From the original article:

"Franklin Roosevelt fished in the Caribbean during the Nazi blitz of London."

Oh? And where was CBS when Eleanor had to claim FDR's body at Warm Springs, Georgia while vacationing with his mistress (away from his wife) and having his dignified and responsible image painted, whilst at the same time the Marines and Army were fighting their bloodiest battle on Okinawa (having landed 11 days before); and the Navy suffered its greatest losses to kamikazi attacks offshore?

I am a bit too young to personally remember these deeds by FDR. I thank you for bringing this to our attention.

I was eight at the time, and most certainly then heard nothing of this at the time. In the midst of war the like which few now can comprehend, even the yellow press sat on the personal foibles of leaders, concentrating on winning the war based on unity of political purpose. The facts came out much, much later.

I was eight at the time, and most certainly then heard nothing of this at the time. In the midst of war the like which few now can comprehend, even the yellow press sat on the personal foibles of leaders, concentrating on winning the war based on unity of political purpose. The facts came out much, much later.

Then I suppose the reason we only heard of the "personal foibles" of FDR and other iconic presidents (iconic meaning they're more a household word than Rutherford B. Hayes, for example) "much, much later" is because the press was mature enough in those days to realize that national security trumped selling papers.

In current times, the press is made up, with a few shining exceptions, of infantile unquestioning celebophiles who insist on fomenting the news themselves, not just reporting it. They MAKE (or break) their personal rock stars, qualifications be damned, and then devote themselves to promoting said personages. The foibles of their Chosen are quickly swept under the rug. National security? We are such sinners, we don't deserve to have a nation, let alone a secure one.

The current media, with a few exceptions, are basically guilty of treason. They have been raised on an anti-American formula from their youngest days. They see nothing wrong with vilifying brilliant people who could greatly benefit America just because they disagree with their political views. They see nothing wrong with publicizing strategies which should be kept secret, the better to forewarn our enemies. They see nothing wrong with fanning racial flames by making mountains out of mole hills. And they see nothing wrong with propping up inept would-be leaders whose asinine strategies encourage and actually enable our enemies.

Shame on the leftist media! Shame on them, spoiled infants with a pen, a keyboard or a camera.

Hey, I heard it on NPR this week: W took three times as many vacation days.

Er, ah, it only seemed like three times as many because the media covering the ranch had to stay in "hellhole" Texas with nary the amount of perks they usually get.
