Despite pledges from the White House that no American ground troops will be sent to fight the Islamic State (ISIS), Gen. Michael Hayden, former head of the CIA and NSA, thinks that up to 5,000 Americans will be on the ground by the end of the year.
"It might be through covert action rather than more overt activity," Hayden said on "Fox News Sunday."
Hayden said those won't be regular combat troops, but intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, logistics, advice, command and control assistance and tactical air control parties. He said that even if America is successful, it can expect a three- to five-year battle.

This is reassuring in a way, but I wish he would please keep his mouth shut about exact numbers of troops and time parameters of the operation. The President already telegraphs our every move as it is. The things he should be more forthcoming about (Fast&Furious,Bengazi,IRSscandal,MuslimBrotherhood,5for1terroristgivebacks,WetBackDumping) Obama keeps us out of the loop completely.
Not to worry. Obama will personally oversee the Rules of Engagement our troops will have to endure.
I agree. This administration is giving out way to much information regarding our troops on the ground.

He has been out of the loop for 5 1/2 years. He is not "disclosing" anything. He's providing "expert commentary" on what need to be done, similar to Bradshaw, Boomer or Griese doing the NFL pre-game show or we Freeper veterans saying the exact same thing.
