Secessionist feeling was highest in the Southwest (34%) and lowest in New England (19%).

Those are not insignificant numbers.

States can never secede from the U.S.

Clearly no States intended to give up that right when they first joined the union, but the right to secede was taken away by conquest in the War Between the States.

I have a theory that it would be even higher in the Southeast but for the large “minority” population there.

Because the US feral government is engaged in a criminal RICO conspiracy by selectively enforcing existing US law?

Just a thought.

As mentioned in related threads, as consequence of parents not making sure that their children are being taught about the federal government’s constitutionally limited powers, constitutionally-ignorant patriots are unable to stop the lies being told by both the media and the corrupt federal government about the federal government’s so-called wide powers.

One in four Americans want their state to secede from the U.S., but why?

Getting rid of the evil of the Federal Government gives 'em a better position to fight the evil of their State Government.

... who in their right minds would give up all the money they’ve already paid into the Social Security and Medicare systems?

That money is spent and gone Jim at rooters. Some of the people get it. When will you get it?

I don’t see secession as a reasonable answer, but we need to get the feds back to their proper place in the U.S.A.

I do not want to succeed but I would be delighted to give California back to Mexico and give Canada Detroit and Seattle. Then we could draw a line right below Wilmington ,De from the Chesapeake Bay around Washington DC Metro, Philadelphia and Baltimore metros to the point where the line would intersect at New York Connecticut and Massachussets and remove that part of the country.

After reading the responses to some of those,”Man on the street” questions about our government, “branches of government, party in power, Supreme Court rules, etc. I can easily believe that a significant number don’t even know what state they are living in let alone condone secession. Can you secede from the “State of Denial?”

Everyone is assuming there will be a Union to secede from.

Why? Because fedguv sucks.

Because I’m tired of the Old New World Order and being Globocop.

Because, though state gubmint sucks too, it could do marginally better. At least I better know who to tar and feather when things go wrong here.

Because fedguv is broke, and any second the dollar’s gonna fall and we’ll be screwed.

Because, though my state gubmint is broke too (considering unfunded liabilities), the bill is smaller.

Because we don’t need it.
