Using multimillion dollar weapons to take out pick up trucks is not very economical.
Nothing we do in the military is economical.
It comes down to effectiveness and willingness to accept casualties. I think the grunts feel those million dollar missiles are worth it if they don’t risk getting shot....

$1.5m would buy a lot of semi competent mercenaries that can recover territory in Iraq that the Iraqi military is still losing and getting massacred over.

IIRC, Bush said something to that effect on why he would use a one to take out a empty tent.
