Nothing we do in the military is economical.
It comes down to effectiveness and willingness to accept casualties. I think the grunts feel those million dollar missiles are worth it if they don’t risk getting shot....

Precisely.
$1.5m would buy a lot of semi competent mercenaries that can recover territory in Iraq that the Iraqi military is still losing and getting massacred over.
