Is part of Obama’s strategy to run down our inventory?

The money question. Also, why is our purchase rate so low such that we are apparently only buying enough to supply ~two nights of use like last night?
The supply chain issue cited in the article is right on point. The main contractor has bunches of subcontractors who have multiples of suppliers. That makes for a long tail that may not have any raw materials to even begin the process. Of course, there is also the contracting lead time to deal with unless the .gov already has an Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract in place which would reduce the leadtime.
The production capability isn’t so much a question as the procurement process (FY buys) and the political will of the DoD, Congress and obummer to restock.
While they don’t increase the military budget and leave the other parts struggling. Obama needs to think about this crap. Giving troops that are deployed pink slips, can’t afford you, sorry and yet he wants to buy more missles and not up the military budgets. What an a$$
