Superintendent Tells Mary Burke She Doesn't Know What She's Talking About (WI)
The Weekly Standard ^ | 9-25-14 | John McCormack

When Wisconsin governor Scott Walker signed a law curbing the power of public sector unions in his state in 2011, Democrats warned that public schools would suffer terribly. But one year after the law had taken effect--and in the midst of a recall campaign that was driven entirely by the backlash to the law--Democratic candidate Tom Barrett could not name a single school hurt by Walker's reforms.

When Mary Burke, the Democrat challenging Walker in 2014, was asked last month by THE WEEKLY STANDARD if she could name any schools hurt by Walker's reforms, she replied with an anecdote about just one:

“I am concerned about whether we are going to be able to attract and retain and keep good people in our schools,” she said. “And I do see this. A man I talked to not too long ago, Jim from Neenah, was telling me about his daughter who graduated from UW-Eau Claire in education. She had two job offers: one in a school district in Minnesota, one in her hometown of Neenah. Guess which one she’s taking?”

The superintendent [of] that school is now calling Burke's story "unfair" and "misleading." In a September 19 letter, Superintendent Mary Pfeiffer asked Burke to cease and desist from telling the story...

~snip~

A Neenah school board member told TWS that every position has "a couple hundred applications" and the district was able to raise the starting wage for teachers because of Walker's reforms (known as Act 10):

~snip~

Because of Act 10, Lehman said, the district reopened two elementary schools that had been closed after earlier budget cuts. Budget constraints were forcing the district to lay off 10 to 12 teachers each year. How many teachers have been laid off since Walker’s Act 10? “None,” said Lehman.

I often wonder if it would result in a landslide or some kind of electorial record if a non lib candidate would solely campaign on what liars Democrats. Just simply do videos filled with examples like the above and instead of letting it hang for the ‘voter to decide for themselves’, follow it up with the danger of electing these people.

Just hammer them. And put the onus on the voter. “This is YOUR call folks. You want this? You want more just like it?”

I’d bet that that candidate would be swept into office because he was simply willing to call crap what it was in honest language and not cowering behind, at best, metaphors. Trouble is that being straight with voters is the last thing consultants recommend to their candidates.

“Guess which one she’s taking?”

And guess which one she be losing, once the People’s Republic of Minnesota finds its budget situation untenable?

I like it. But it does not have to be a candidate to do this. It could be a PAC or similar group.

If his daughter’s job prospects are so important to him, tell him to get his kids into something that doesn’t make a living off other people’s taxes.

And by the way, the crop of teachers from the UW system are statistically from the bottom 20% of their graduating class. They choose teaching because the bottom 20% of their class can’t do much else, get summers off, all the holidays, and full retirement and healthcare in 20.

That’s fine too, but I think it does have to be a candidate otherwise it’s just another outsider bitching it up in the public view while the candidate hides behind them. Yes, it needs to happen to make it a meme. But I think it is important for a candidate to show the leadership to call their evil what it is openly and unambiguously.

Democrats lie.

Yeah, dipping into the ol' dim playbook.

Here in NC dim Sen. Hagan is running the ol' "Thom Tillis wants to cut Medicare"commercial.
No mention that Obamacare raided Medicare of about $500 mil to move to Obamacare. A program she voted for.

So far Tillis has not rebutted that ad w/ the facts.
Let's hope he does.

Heard on Mark Belling’s show (Friday?) that Burke had agreed to quit telling the Neenah story.

Mary Burke needs to review her Alinsky Method for demonizing her opponent with lies. Of course we know that lies instead of facts just don’t cut it.

Alinsky Rule 10: “If you push a negative hard and deep enough, it will break through into its counter-side... every positive has its negative.”

In other words, if you push the other side far enough to create a negative (e.g. violent reaction), you will score points with public sympathy.

Counter Strategy
-
Fight fire with water. Douse the argument with a cold splash of facts. Cite credible sources and avoid the histrionics the other side is using and hoping for you to respond with. Their histrionics are contrived, yours is apt to be emotional and blunderous. But remember, all politics is theater. So one important thing to remember though, by being rationale and calm, you don’t want to come across as cold. You want to come across as personable and someone to whom the audience can relate.

Point their argument out for what it is - melodramatic tripe. If they cite facts ask them to provide references for the facts. Don’t allow them to side-step the question with a dismissal. Make them answer it. But be empathetic not confrontational.

Your comment: Democrats lie.

My sense is that many Democrat leaders are evil and are working against the best interests of the people and their Constitutional rights.

They are working to only benefit themselves, the union leaders and the liberal adgenda with more bigger government and less freedom. They are unwilling to solve problems unless they get their way.

They are good at selling the lies to the uninformed voter.
