Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper says his state's voters were "reckless" for voting to become the first state to legalize marijuana for recreational use. The Democrat's statement came during a debate Monday with his Republican opponent, Bob Beauprez, just four weeks before voters head to the polls for the state's hotly contested gubernatorial election.
In 2012, more than 55 percent of voters in Colorado supported Amendment 64, which legalized marijuana for recreational use. The amendment aimed to regulate marijuana in roughly the same way alcohol is regulated.

“”A surefire way to get unelected is to tell 55% of the state’s voters they did something stupid””
He has evaluated the 55% and determined they are too stoned to care or vote. So now he is appealing to the 45% who voted against him and marijuana.
The first time in 4 years he says something right!
I think the fallout has already happened. I suspect that a majority of voters would repeal the marijuana law if it was on the November ballot here in CO.
Which is why Hickenlooper has changed his tune.
He was for it before he was against it.
But I betcha no one can light up a Marlboro in the stadium.
Well dumbsh!t (Hickenlooper)...You could have vetoed it...
But I digress...
They voted for dope twice.
Just ignore it.
That’s what many states do with majority votes to ban homosexual marriage.
Then God said, Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds. And it was so. 12 The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. 13 And there was evening, and there was morningthe third day.
Therefore God created all the vegetation on Earth and saw that it was good, therefore marijuana is good. I can cherry pick too!!!!!!!
Do you drink?
If so, you need to stop talking. Now.
Leftists are dumb to begin with and adding legalized pot doesn’t help matters.
roll yer own.
The voters were reckless for voting for
legalization of cannabis.. but he escapes blame though he signed it into law?
It was a constitutional amendment...there was nothing to sign into law.
My prediction is that if a pot club does indeed open in De Beque any benefit to the town will be short lived because clubs will open in Glenwood Springs, Silt, Parachute, Grand Junction, etc. No one is going to drive to De Beque (pop. 500) to buy pot if it's available closer.
I don’t think the governor can veto a constitutional amendment approved by a referendum vote.
I don’t think weed is harmless.
I also don’t think that smoking it or possessing small amounts of it for smoking should land one in prison, but it is clearly not harmless.
If an adult chooses to smoke it in a fashion that does not present a danger to others, then I am fine with that decision. People have to figure out how to live their own lives and what’s best for them.
But yeah if you abuse it, you can cause yourself problems, there really is no doubt about that in my mind.
Personally, I like to think about things clearly. That hasn’t always been important to me, but it is now, and being stoned does not assist in that aim at all.

We have to go to CO occasionally. There’s a daughter, son-in-law, and 4 grandchildren living there. In fact we fly on Oct. 16th for the wedding of a grandson.
Which also brings up dangers such as Ebola, and that other virus in CO affecting children - - I’ve lived a fairly long time and have never seen such a wacky, possibly dangerous period - except perhaps for polio, but that’s another story - in American history.
You will probably wish me luck - - -
“Disagree. I believe it will be a negative to your tourism. While some will visit because they CAN smoke week there, many, like me, will not visit or will not go back. I am in the latter; I was there with some family the first week of September. I kept smelling a horrible smell that was making me sick. it wasnt till we got to the stadium sunday night for the broncos game that it finally hit me what the smell was (it was there, also).
I will NEVER so much as even drive thru the state again”
aw, come on....your just mad cuz you went to Colorado to see the broncows.
The smell of pot makes me nauseous as well. I can’t beleive that people get up in arms over someone smelling like a cigarette...they call it “vile” “disgusting” and the like. Yet to me cig smoke is nothing compared to the aroma of burning weed.
