For years, activists associated with Media Matters have attempted to undercut the advertising base for Rush Limbaugh’s radio show, with little success. Those activists, who represent a small, hard-core base dedicated to launching secondary boycotts – boycotts against advertisers on Limbaugh’s program – are now revealing themselves as not merely leftist advocates, but some of the fringiest characters this side of MSNBC.
For example, Matt Osborne is one of the chief voices in the Stop Rush campaign. He explains that he is a “Stop Rush volunteer since 2012,” and that his “volunteers contact advertisers – mostly by phone, but also on Twitter and Facebook. We share Limbaugh’s words with them verbatim and then ask them to divest from his program.” Osborne also brags that he heads the website Breitbart Unmasked.

The Twitter campaign was using spambots to make it appear they were many.
There was an internet back up company that used to advertise on Rush. When the Sandra Fluke “slut” controversy happened they jumped on the boycott and cancelled. Their sales plummeted and they begged to come back and Rush said no.
So, how long has this group been working to stop Limbaugh? I think he’s been on the air nationally since about 1988 and how are they doing with this stop Rush effort?.

that is precisely what happened with Sleep Train, a little background about them:
SleepTrain started in Sacramento at almost the same time that’s rush started his career on local radio in Sacramento.
sleep train’s business with struggling: they had chosen their first site in a scummy Sacramento location and it looked like sleeptrain was going to go under. But Rush had just arrived in town, poor, fat and having been fired seven times and the head of Sleep Train was lucky enough to buy into a large slug of advertising and Sleeptrain shot skyward like a homesick angel.
people drove literally for hundreds of miles around to buy those silly mattresses. In fact the connection between Rush’s career and Sleep Train mattress was so tight for many years one of their top outlets was and is actually in the backyard of Rush’s first station.
When Rush had his SLUT difficulties Sleeptrain betrayed Rush, who had saved them, and pulled all their advertising.
DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM SLEEPTRAIN, EVAR.

when his career was taking off a lot of local liberal media figures in Sacramento were jealous of Rush and were extremely nasty and rude to him, often needlessly. Being publically nasty to Rush was a good way to boost your liberal media chops.
but Rush was cool about it and just took it all, ad never returned their hostility. He just and just laughed it off and later he took care of everyone who was nice to him.
He was nice even to a lot of the ones that had been needlessly mean to him.
Rush is successful but he also has class.
