In June, as you may recall, the EPA announced their new “Clean Power Plan” which was, for all intents and purposes, another shot across the bow in the war on coal. In their mission statement, while paying lip service to the fact that the needs and resources of each of the states are different, they also cite “the important role of states as full partners with the federal government in cutting pollution.” This is matched with the built in assumption of the need to “address the risks of climate change.” (Apparently nobody bothered to ask the states exactly how much of an “equal partnership” they were interested in.)
Now that the new rules are moving forward in the process and people have begun to take notice of what this will mean in the real world, one wonders precisely whose side the Obama administration is on. You’d think that the Democrats – long the champions of the poor and oppressed – would have their best interests at heart… particularly with an election coming up. But as Jim Martin noted at Town Hall recently, one of the most heavily affected groups will be senior citizens.
In the United States there are 27 million households aged 65 or older. [ ] The majority of our nations seniors are living on fixed incomes. For many of them, their primary source of income is social security. More LIHEAP clients to keep voting for Democrats. So it works for him.
Interestingly, the cost of fuel and electricity are not factors in figuring the cost of living increase for S.S. recipients each year.
Neither is food.
Are they going to change the name to “Dirty Poverty Plan”?
The Bible tells us that true believers struggle against “powers and principalities”. Powers refers to evil financial elites, which is, in essence, what new world order has been for the past few centuries, and arguably for thousands of years.
These “powers” think themselves to “be a god unto themselves”; to determine life and death of everyone, and determine “who gets what”, i.e., a planned, statist economy with financial elites controlling the state behind the scenes.
You can read more about it by researching people like Cecil Rhodes, Jeremy Bentham, Robert Owen (a business partner of Bentham).
After the economic “boom time” of the 1990s, our illustrious elites began the process of setting up for “bust time” to follow, and during that time to put the squeeze on individuals economically in order to push more people into economic dependence on government and the largest consolidated businesses (of course, in the industries they currently choose).
Much of the earnings in the “private sector” nowadays is either directly or indirectly driven by government or healthcare.
Many people that work in the private sector in defense, healthcare, and other government contracting businesses, fail to recognize that their entire paycheck is funded by tax dollars.
It’s a slow march towards a statist economy, a few steps behind Europe.
It’s designed to kill small business, thus the elites’ monopolies will mostly be all that’s left.
