I really liked the “mashed” potatoes scooped out by the lunchroom lady in the ice cream scoop, and the brown “gravy” with it decades ago. The roast beef slice wasnt bad either. And, decent fish on Fridays. Also, the bread “pudding” served up too.
In total, hardly anyone threw away anything except the empty milk cartons. Oh yeah, an exception was the mystery meat. Never knew what that was.

back in Hawaii ('62-'67) our Elementary (Chester B. Nimitz) school, had
some of the best roast beef stew, pour that over rice/noodles..YUMMY!
and the handmade yeast rolls were heavenly.
